My dear friend had a stroke and is at Southpointe and is in 139. This was my first time here, and I spent a couple hours with him. My friend and I were greeted by name by every staff member that passed us by. One staff member really stood out, as Kelly started my visit as the Bingo caller for the group, and an hour later came out and personally Interacted with several of the residents. She spoke at an appropriate level for all and went out of her way to directly address each person by name. I appreciated her attention and caring! Thank you!
I have to admit that I was leary about taking my mom to Southpointe judging from the reviews. We were pleasantly surprised how nice everyone was there. I think the key is to make sure family and friends are able to visit often, if possible. That way you can be a part of the therapy they offer. They will be as nice to you as you are to them. Their job is not easy! Thank you Southpointe for taking care of my mom!
Casey Ryan, the Director of Social Services, is truly a shining star at Southpoint. The passion and care she provides to her patients shows in every interaction she has with them. She works countless hours and makes sure that every detail of her role is completed to perfection. Her communication is amazing and she always goes above and beyond. Casey, keep up the great work. Southpoint is truly lucky to have you!
If I could give this place a lower star I would. I haven’t written anything because I don’t expect anything to be done or change. My grandmother was transferred here from St. Lukes during covid in 2020- she had contracted the virus and was high risk. After St. Lukes deemed her healthy enough for recovery, St. Lukes sent her to this horrible place and this is where she further declined. Then passed away later at a hospice center. Not only did they hurt her upon transition, in my grandmothers few words “yanked her up” from bed. They left her in bed with sores on her bottom. Dry mouth stuffed with pills. Left her in a wheel chair with her neck craned because she was physically too weak to do anything but lie there. Their negligence in care is astounding. She was here for maybe 3 weeks? And not only did they leave her with PILLS IN HER MOUTH. But they did not let her next of kin visit, or barely speak to her. At this point SHE WAS DYING. The staff was nonexistent, rude, and did not give her proper care. Please do not ever send your loved ones here, I will never forget seeing my grandma in such a state because of this “Health Center”. I am thoroughly convinced she had a better chance at St. Lukes than she ever did at South Point Medical Center. Beware.
My brother, 77yo, was admitted about 5PM to SouthPointe a week after having his right small toe amputated due to cellulitis infection reaching his foot bone. He is very tall and the bed they had was not long enough. They did not have a walker that was high enough for him to use. I was very hesitant about this facility. I got there shortly after 9:30 on Friday morning and spoke with Ann Davis, program director, who saw me I. The hallway trying to figure out my route. I ended up telling her all the problems my brother was having. She wrote them down and told me she’d get 4ight to work on it. Well I’ll tell you, that crew did an outstanding job of addressing all our issues. And I loved that every single one of those employees were very kind, caring and considerate. I was so pleased with the level of care and concern shown to my brother. This is a wonderful facility. We couldn’t have asked for anything better.
We have had a positive experience at Southpointe. Karen is the Nursing Supervisor has been very helpful. The whole nursing staff has been on top of the care my brother is needing.
Neglectful overnight Aide made my mom cry and want to come home. Threw a diaper at her after calling for help 3 times. Mom was there for therapy after a fall. The physical therapy staff were wonderful just like they were the first time! They are a very professional group of providers. Sad to leave others behind their long-term. The other night staff were not abusive but we’re neglectful. Maybe there were a couple good ones but my mom didn’t have them. This just happened July 22, 2021 and we will notify the state how terrible it was. It doesn’t matter how nice all the managers are if they don’t stand up to the bad people who work night shift.
I brought my mom here for rehabilitation so far everyone is nice there job is not easy will see how it goes...
This place is horrible, my grandmother is laying on her death bed right now because they are so neglectful. She has a cut and bruising on her forehead, stage 4 bed sore from not being turned, a broken leg, all from them not doing their job. I’ve called this facility for over a month without a call back or an answer the phone just rings and rings with no answer. If you can take your loved one anywhere else please do. They will not take care of them here, it’s like the staff is heartless. I will be calling the state about this and making a report. This facility does not need to remain open so more people can be neglected.
Update. Comments below show our journey here. I first gave a one star review, then a 3, now a 5. Changes were made after a discussion with the administrator. They are concerned and do what they say. Many thanks to all at SouthPointe. My wife was admitted bon 10/12. 6:30 in the evening. Because of covid protocol visitors are not allowed in the rooms. The policy is to make an appointment and the resident will be transported to the lobby. Visits are for 25 minutes only. This seems to be rediculous. How does this protect anyone? I can't walk alone to my wife's room so a worker brings her out past many people into a public space. She has a greater chance to have virus contact coming to the lobby than staying in her room. Totally rediculous. Very low staffed. My wife stuck in a wheelchair for over 3 hours in pain waiting to be removed. How can she heal this way? Looking for a new facility. Update. Had visit today and administrator came in. She explained the visitation policy. There 3 areas for visitation. I didn't know this during the last post. I don't agree but it is ok. Got to talk to various treatment people and there is a plan going forward. Hopefully there is a follow through. Was impressed with the quick concern. Update 5/4. Very disappointed in the care of my wife. She had a wound on her tailbone. While at SP the wound got huge. My wife was always complaining it hurt. Finally 2 weeks ago she was admitted to the hospital. Had surgery to clean the wound. Asked SP for her wound care records. None provided yet. May be lawsuit in the future. Update. My wife went to the hospital for wound care. She died on 5/12. Be careful where you place a loved one.
