Space Coast Stadium

Description

Space Coast Stadium is a baseball stadium in Viera, Florida, owned by Brevard County, Florida. It has served as the spring training facility for the Florida Marlins (1994–2002), Montreal Expos (2003–2004), and Washington Nationals (2005–2016) and as the home field of the Brevard County Manatees (1994–2016). After renovation, it is scheduled to reopen as a baseball/softball venue – part of a new multi-sport complex operated by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) – in the fall of 2017. Since 2017, it has been the home field of the USSSA Pride women′s professional fast-pitch softball team.HistoryConstruction and openingSpace Coast Stadium was completed before the 1994 Major League Baseball season as part of a plan to bring the Florida Marlins to Viera for spring training. Ground was broken for the new stadium in what had been a pasture on April 29, 1993, and construction cost US$6.2 million.Opening ceremonies took place on March 2, 1994 – the same day as a launch of the Space Shuttle Columbia at the nearby Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral – followed immediately by the Marlins′ first spring training game at the ballpark, in which they defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-6 before a crowd of 7,494.

Very professional, super clean parks! Parking is a bit limited but don't be afraid to get a bit creative and park on the grass if its too full on events... It has plenty of fields. I love that the bleachers have shade! The stadium is huge and has bathrooms of course! They have concessions and stores. Very neat
Our granddaughters 10u team entered into the World Series and we traveled to this magnificent field. All Fields have professional artificial playing surfaces and plenty of covered stands style seating at each field. Umpires are first rate as Bill was one for many years and commented on them several times. Only issue is the $20 a day entry fee per day over the three days we will attend costs us $120... getting real expensive. No consideration for veterans or seniors . Parking is ok but can be a challenge so arrive early to find a spot. Very few Handicap spots were found.
Beautiful facility! People working the event were also fantastic! Being from VA, July was uncomfortably hot for me, but my son couldn't care less when he's on the field doing what he loves!!
Awesome experience for our daughter. Huge, well maintained complex. The fields were immaculate. Glad we went, well worth the trip!
Impressive complex and great experience! My son loved playing on these turf fields and the Umpires were top notch. It was very hot and there was plenty of covered seating for spectators. Wish they would add fans in the dugouts for the players. We loved that they live stream all games. Parking was hard to find at times. Highly recommend this sports complex!
Amazing facility. Fields are amazing. Only complaint is parking, but that is to be expected.
Beautiful Experience watching my granddaughter. The customer service was excellent. Very nice employee brought a golf cart and drove me to the stadium from up front. I have as very bad hip and he was so gracious. Very helpful. Came and drove us all to the car.
Great facilities. Terrible parking. There needs to be about twice the amount for how many fields and teams they have playing during a world series event. Don't forget to bring the bank with you also. At $20 a head to get in and $5 Gatorades the cost can add up.
They have benefit concerts there every so often. We saw Liverpool Live! the first time & Greggy & the Jets the second time. Both shows were phenomenal! I only wish they had more concerts here. I love this stadium & there's plenty of seating & parking.
We are here on Monday morning July 31st, 2023 to check in for the USSSA All-American Games. We are waiting at 11:02 am for the Pro Shop to open to pick up our Zoo tickets and do a little shopping before check-in. An event staff member who was working the admission line advised us that the shop would open up at 11:00 am. Around 11:10 am that same event staff member approached the closed shop doors and knocked on it to get the manager's attention and advised him that there is a line of customers forming, and asked him when they were going to open. The manager gruffly replied, "I know there is a line forming, we will open when we are ready, " and then shut the door. The staff member apologized to the patrons in line, then walked off muttering under his breath. The doors to the store opened at 11:12 am. I know that this facility already has our guaranteed patronage for the coming week, but even so, the level of customer service on the first day from the manager of the pro-shop sucks. Thousands of people from out of town traveled here for this event and are here, on time, to check their athletes in for the week. Do better.
