GRIFFIN-SPALDING COUNTY
The Griffin-Spalding County Community is comprised of approximately 68,000 residents within a small town environment. We have excellent elementary (11), middle (4) and high schools (2) within our community. Additionally We have UGA, Griffin Campus and Southern Crescent Technical College which adds to our local educational assets.
The City of Griffin is located in Spalding County, at the convergence of U.S. Highway 19 and 41. Griffin prides itself on having a diverse economic base, as it is home to several large organizations including Caterpillar and Bandag. Tourists are drawn to Griffin- Spalding County to visit historical sites that include the birthplace of “Doc” Holiday, the famous gunfighter of the American Old West, and Stonewall Confederate Cemetery
Spalding County is located in the west-central part of Georgia and encompasses 201 square miles. We are bordered by Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Henry, Butts, Lamar, Pike, and Meriwether counties. Spalding County lies 40 miles south of downtown Atlanta and 55 miles northwest of Macon.
Spalding County is a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
