Here for an overnight on our way from east to west USA. Really nice KOA, with thoughtful hosts. The pool pump had gone out a few days before our arrival- and instead of telling us to just deal with the pool being closed this was 2 weeks ago in crazy heat, they had prearranged for guests to have a free pass at the community water park, just around the corner from the campground. It was a welcome treat. Sites were large and level and clean. Another bonus is the family-run Mexican restaurant next door- great ambiance and super yummy. Oh- and be sure to hike the trail that can be accessed right from the campground, along Spearfish Creek. Beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely return when traveling through here again.
We were initially supposed to be at a different campground, and it didn’t work out. We found this one and it was the BEST decision we made!! My kids LOVED the heated pool and they had “all you can eat ice cream”! Our tent spot was perfect, and the staff was SO kind and helpful!! Bathrooms were well maintained and nice, showers were private! Lots of room to help shower kids! We will be back!! We loved this campground so much!! We definitely will recommend this one to everyone!!!!!
Beautiful grounds … well-spaced, grass-covered campsites with first-rate bathrooms, showers, and laundry-room. Daily campsite trash pick-up was an unexpected bonus. Campground backs up to a grassy open-space where deer visit every evening and a nature trail accesses nearby Spearfish Creek featuring more walking trails plus a large off-leash area for dogs. My only negative was the noise from the nearby elevated freeway which, of course, goes all night. Not really an issue for self-contained RVs but maybe not the best location for tent campers or small trailers. Convenient for day-trips to Spearfish town and waterfall-laced Spearfish Canyon, Black Hills/Rapid City attractions, and nearby Devil’s Tower.
The staff was incredibly friendly, and this KOA was very nice to stay at. Private showers and shared laundry facilities. The bathrooms were nice also. We are already talking about coming back this way and staying here again. We stayed at a tent site and everything was really nicely kept up. We also enjoyed a really nice walk to a trail in the morning that led to a creek so we could just relax and were able to enjoy a morning coffee.
The campground was set up very nice and was very clean and updated. It was just off the ramp on I90 on the west side of town. Very easy to get too. Larger spots than some campgrounds we have seen. We will stay there again.Rooms: 5/5
Made my reservations early and had to modify on the day we were supposed to leave and the management was extremely understanding. Arrived a day late, but spent our vacation enjoying the beauty of the site. Very quiet, very clean, very beautiful. This KOA has pull through sites, tent sites, cabins, is close to the interstate to hop on and go see the sites of the Black Hills. I am thankful of the showers, bathrooms, laundry site, and pool. We've found a place we will always go back to!
Very few RV parks earn a 5 star rating from us but this KOA surpasses all. If you've never been to Spearfish SD you are in for a treat. Restaurants, Outdoor beauty Vets and Family have free access to all National Parks, a heated pool, nature trails and no matter how crowded it was or how sparse, the Staff were incredibly attentive. We stayed an extra week due to the loss of our 12 year old Snoopy Cat. Kudos to Cindy for reproducing an exquisite poster for our runaway. Michelle, Pumpkin is happy, ear healed, eating like a champ, both Ed and I thank you from our hearts. He has bonded with his new siblings and favors Ed. Go figure.
This was our first KOA experience and it was wonderful! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The campground is very well maintained and very clean. There is always a staff person around if you need something. They allowed both our camper and a tent on our site which kept our family together. This was such a special trip for us. Thank you Black Hills KOA!
This is a great place! It was pretty much between everything I wanted to visit in the area. Mt rushmore, badlands, and devils tower are all within driving distance. The park is very clean, and associates are phenomenal.
This campground is close to I-90 and offers level gravel sites. The staff was helpful, the wifi was consistent and suitable for streaming. The laundry room was clean wash/dry $2.00 each. The pool looked inviting and there were plenty of children there enjoying some warm weather.
