Vincent "The Green Carpenter" & his Specialty Wood Creations
Hi! My name is Vincent DePaul-Tran and I would like to tell you about myself, my shop, my obsession with woodworking! From an early age on, I have always wanted to build things with my hands. At around ten years old, I built a 35mm slide projector with just a couple of magnifying glasses, a light bulb, and a few pieces of scrap wood. At 19 years old, I built a night stand (my first "real" woodworking project) with just a hammer, an electric drill, and MDF wood. My love for woodworking never changed, and through the years, I always found ways to get involved in woodworking projects.
About 10 years ago I decided to leave the world of computer software and professional services to professionally pursue woodworking and building unique furniture. Now, over 20 years after my first real woodworking project, I have built a very well equipped woodworking shop which my 9 year old son calls "The BFF Shop". This dream shop of mine has everything from a set of 70 years old chisels and professional quality woodworking tools to a very high-tech CNC (computer numerical control) router. Even though I am a solo carpenter and my shop might be small, I can take on any project.
What makes my shop different from a typical carpentry shop?
1. I do all my own design work, and I am able to match the productivity of a 4-5 person team by combining all my skills, knowledge, and experiences in carpentry, upholstery, math, geometry, physics, designs, interior designs, graphics, CAD/CAM, CNC programming, and machine tools.
2. Although I'm capable of doing unique things with my great tools, they are not my best assets. Some of the few things that I can control and you will get at my shop are: highest level of integrity, simple and wholesome customer service, and best of all: fair and affordable prices.
3. Last but not least, one of the main reasons that I'm so inspired to be in the woodworking profession is my 9 years old son. The one thing that he's known for is how much he loves animals. He taught me the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) to help out the environment and in his words "save some animals from going to extinction". So I've been incorporating reclaimed and recycled woods into our designs. Please stay tuned. Many designs are on the drawing board preparing to be built. As always, I'd like to thank my past and present customers for the continuing support over the years. If you're not currently a customer, hopefully I will have the opportunity to work with you and create that unique item you have always wanted.
