Super pleased with my experience here. Beginner/intermediate skier looking to finally invest in some gear. Visited several shops in the area and really impressed with the service. The staff were very knowledgeable, actually took measurements and turns out I was two sizes smaller than what I thought. It took over an hour but once the perfect boot was found, I had it heat molded for comfort. Even got 30% off the final bill due to end of season sales!
I recently had a disappointing experience with Sport Toma, a Ski Shop in Maine. I called to inquire about ski tuning and asked if it would be possible to drop off my skis at 4:30 PM on a Thursday and have them ready by Friday morning. The person on the phone responded in a very annoyed tone and told me that they don't do tuning after hours and that they close at 5 PM. I was taken aback by the tone of their response and felt disrespected as a potential customer. I understand that policies about ski tuning availability are necessary, but the way in which the associate spoke to me was completely unnecessary. As a customer, I expect to be treated with professionalism and courtesy, and this experience fell far short of those expectations. Unfortunately, this experience has left a negative impression of Sport Toma. It is disappointing that I will have to look elsewhere for ski tuning and equipment during my next trip to Sunday River. I hope that the shop takes customer service more seriously in the future and recognizes that respectful and courteous interactions with customers are key to building a positive reputation.
The staff here were incredibly helpful! This is the only place in town that rents snowshoes, and they do so at a fair price. They went out of their way to refer me to another shop in town when they didn’t have an item I was looking for. They have a great merchandise selection— high quality, good brands and well organized! The shop is very cute and I’ll be back for my mountain needs whenever I’m in town!
Refuses to do a size exchange on unused items. They treat you like you don't know anything. They tried explaining to a snowboard instructor why the snowboard boots should be so tight that they literally hurt your feet. Unprofessional in customer service.
Bought a hat. It was very nice. A bit pricey but different and it is warm!
Very poor customer service. Former ski racer and local and went in for several pieces of equipment. Was ignored for over an hour, finally went to check out with a few items and the staff walked away from the counter while I put my things up to pay. They catered to flatlanders, so if you want to bring your French bulldog in a sweater you’ll probably be helped, but if you’re local and actually know what you want, just go somewhere where you’re valued. Waste of time.
Might be the one true ski shop in this area. Aside from the gear selection and support for local race teams, the service and knowledge sold me. Simple example but I went in for some edge tuning tools and the guy who helped me seemed like the owner could tell I was still learning how to do it right, so he brought me into the back and broke down the whole process. How to use each tool, why, what not to do, everything. He could've just as easily told me to service my board at his shop instead, it's a great spot.
Huge selection of apparel. Very informative and helpful staff. We are a bunch of people in our 70s going kayaking today because of the staff members' helpful guidance and information .
Over the last few weeks I've rented skis/boots and poles and had an excellent experience with Dan. Yesterday it was time to buy and once again Dan was amazing. Gave great advice, LISTENED and pointed me in a smart direction for equipment as I grow and get better on the slopes. Very happy with the selection of equipment and the high level of customer service. Highly recommend Sport Thoma!
If you like being ignored, then ridiculed and laughed at, this is the spot for you. Went to a couple other spots where they were very nice, with a better selection of gear. Really liked the place with 2 first names...
