Spring Woods High School

Description

Spring Woods High School is a secondary school in Spring Branch, Houston, Texas. The school, serving grades 9 through 12, is operated by Spring Branch Independent School District.Spring Woods serves several neighborhoods, including Campbell Woods, Royal Oaks, Spring Meadows, Shadow Oaks, and a portion of Spring Shadows. A section of the Memorial City district is within the school's attendance zone.HistorySpring Woods High School opened in 1964 during the population boom in the western suburbs of Houston on the former grounds of the Spring Branch Country Club. It opened within a year of the openings of Spring Oaks Junior High (now Spring Oaks Middle School) and Westwood Elementary School, all immediately adjacent on the same former golf course. Currently the second-oldest functioning high school in the Spring Branch ISD, Spring Woods serves the northwest part of the district, roughly an area north of Interstate 10 and west of Gessner Road. Expanded and renovated several times, the Spring Woods campus has wide courtyards in which classrooms face inwards, yet with passages that are open to the outside air, a different approach than Northbrook High School and Stratford High School, the two newer schools in the district, which are mostly enclosed but are still kept dry and warm when weather becomes an issue. Spring Woods opened about the same time and with a similar design as Westchester High School, which closed in the 1980s and is currently home to a district-run charter school called Westchester Academy for International Studies.

If you are looking for an excellent school for your children, then you have come to the right place! I am currently receiving my education here, and my experience has been full of grand opportunities and wonder! The staff are very helpful and kind, the school is always clean, and your child will get a sense of what the real world is like!!!
This is not about the school itself but rather about the principal Toby Day. I drove hundreds of miles to just see my sister and pick her up from school. Granted I was allowed to pick her up and take her out to eat, but next time have the decency as a principal or at least as a human being to get up from your chair, meet the service member who is trying to ask you about a minor detail and talk to me face-to-face like a man not by you sending your assistant to communicate your message while I’m outside your office 2 feet away.
Spring Woods High School is a great school with a a nice campus and a generally great staff. The teachers have always been nice and their Special Education program is fantastic. The students are average; there's not a whole lot that distinguishes them from their peers in other high schools. There is a slight gang problem and there has been some incidents of students being caught smoking cigarettes/blunts there. That's typical for high school, though, so it shouldn't be much of a concern. Overall, the school is very good.
Teachers are great and very great importance to student education, thank you, Every teacher and office administration for your concern and dedication to our children's education, meetings their achievements..
Great teachers, hour long lunch, and hard work that is rewarded throughout the years. You put the work in, and you get greatness from it! Really great school :
Sometimes the bus comes when it wants to. When it comes then the bus driver will not be waiting for a single second in the morning. In the afternoon it's better but to many kids making noises and being disrespectful and etc.
Haven't seen all of it. I think some of the changes r a bit extreme. Mostly the card access. But i can understand. With hoodlums getting more n more gutsy n stupid nowadays. Its a good thing. I think they should have left the access to the field the way it was. Always made it easier to get to.
Good high school so far I'm a freshman and I haven't really had any problems with anyone or anything the only fight I saw was the one on the first week of school after that I haven't seen any fights during the one hour lunch nor afterschool and I'm surprised because when you get older you mature more
Every student has the support they need and teachers are there for the students not just for a paycheck. Completely outstanding!
Your child falls through the cracks way way WAY too easily.
