What do we offer at the Rancho Cucamonga Personalized Learning Center?
The Rancho Cucamonga Personalized Learning Center offers two independent study programs and homeschool enrichment classes.
U-Lab 9-12
You driven University style learning
This program provides a small family-friendly environment for high schoolers who would like to pick and choose their own academic path. Students will “mix and match” their learning method. They may sign up for university style courses taught through direct instruction by a “live” teacher, take courses through our online virtual classroom, participate in small-group workshop seminar courses, design their own course or do traditional independent study. Small group classes are taught on Wednesday and Friday. Students meet with ESes for learning plan meetings and have access to the campus on Monday and Thursday. High school special interest enrichment courses will be offered throughout the year. More information about the enrichment courses will be coming soon.
Homeschool Learning Center TK-12:
T/TH - Workshop enrichment classes offered TK-8th grade. High school courses offered for science, math and English. Class list available soon, but will be similar to 2015-16 course offerings. Classes will cost $120 per course for K-8 and $120 per course for 9-12th grade.
Homeschool Discovery Col-LAB-orative (TK-8):
This lab program is offered M/W/F and provides structured classroom activities three days a week for Discovery program students with all monthly learning plan meetings happening at the center. Home study day lessons are provided by the Discovery lab ES. Homestudy days include passion projects, PE, special interest and completing math and ELA lessons designed to support the classroom instruction.
The Discovery Col-LAB-orative program will provide unique Springs created multi-age, thematic curriculum that challenges students to become noteworthy citizens, capable communicators, analytical thinkers, and independent learners. Students will partner with teachers to collaboratively work to solve a real world problem or connect to a community project. Students will be provided the tools to become expert goal setters and teachers will work as coaches to facilitate personalized growth for each and every student. The Col-LAB-orative classroom boasts innovative resources for Student I CAN! and content area centers. The emphasis is on hands-on, student-driven discovery. A typical day for a student consists of school-wide community building, I CAN! Personalization hour, Math Lab, outdoor play, physical education, and thematic instruction with content area connections.
