We LOVE Mercy! The Mercy South, heart hospital, front line workers definitely provide Front Row service! From the moment, you step foot inside of this health oasis, you know that you are valued, and that you will feel better. Every step of the way we had happy, helpful Staff assisting us with our every outpatient need. Ironically the two nurses that started with us today share our same names! Kelly and Don got our party started with vitals and lots of laughs, and then Nurse Teresa and Nick took over and nurtured us both all the way through recovery. Dr. Ross did a great job of completing the effective procedure in no time flat. Shout out to the pharmacy that delivered medication directly to the recovery room! Top notch! This great team deserves all the recognition possible!! It’s not easy to provide such delightful customer service in chaotic times. We are grateful that this Mercy team came together to make this such a joyful occasion!
Most of the staff was courteous enough but with the lack of coordination, compassion, and communication they fall short of taking care of patients needs. I saw many people leaving before their treatment due to the lack stated. We personally left after waiting over five hours with my 90 year old mother because she couldn't sit any more. She decided to truly risk her life rather than stay in the unknown. I will never go back. They need a serious overhaul of their management of resources.
The ER staff who treated me yesterday were incredibly kind and compassionate, from the techs to the nurse practitioner—everyone was so caring and patient even as I dripped blood all over their floor. I was there for 5 hours, but I know going into the ER that there will always be a long wait. A long wait means you’re fortunate enough not to be emergent. Seriously, to NP Nancy and her care team, I can’t be thankful enough.
Worst ER experience ever. Took my dad at 945am with chest pains and shortness of breath. Made him wait in the waiting room with a mask on for 8 HOURS. 8 HOURS LATER...they tell him they had a room for him...only to be told 5 minutes later it was given to someone more critical than him. I sat there taking in a woman with a broken ankle crying who had been there 4 hours. Another patient moaning in pain completely ignored. Another older woman who had been waiting 6 hours. It was like being in a third world country. If THIS is the BEST you can do folks? You might as well shut it down. My dad asked for the IV that sat in his arm 8 hours to be removed. They said he would have to sign a waiver. Nope! And we will be sure that Medicare doesn't pay you a dime for that ridiculous waste of time and ignorance of the way you treated my father. I'd recommend you go to a place that at least pretends to care. Never again Mercy. My family is cancelling all future appointments with Mercy doctors. We can find better than this.
I took my mother to the ER last night at about 8:30 p.m. for blood pressure near 200 systolic. We were taken back pretty quickly and she was given an EKG. We were then told to go back to the waiting room to wait. There were a number of people there for numerous things. The nurse occasionally came out to do a blood pressure check. We waited until 5:00 a.m. at which time we finally left without being seen as did a number of other people. One woman had been there since 1:00 p.m. the previous day. No one apologized for the delays. No one explained the delays. No one cared about the young patient continuously vomiting all night or the patient with two possible broken wrists waiting as long or longer then us. This is absolutely unacceptable patient care. From the reviews this seems to be common practice in the ER. We will never return to this ER and good luck to those who do.
Incredibly difficult to navigate. My bus dropped me off by the parking garage, so I had no idea where I was in relation to the doctor I had come to see. I tried going by building number and wound up entirely lost. Retraced my steps and used Google Maps, which brought me around to the delivery entrance. Thanks, Google Maps. Tried calling but was told to just "look up in the parking lot and we're the white building, three stories, dark windows." I saw nothing matching that description. Went back where I'd started AGAIN, looking for employees but seeing none. The Physicians Office Building is just an elevator and a list of physicians on the first floor. I walked to the Heart Surgery Center, which had a "surgery patients only" sign. Someone came out and offered to help me, taking me in and giving me a map. But she kept saying, "Go to the front of the building," and I was like, "WHICH. Building." She said, "Go back to the main entrance." I said, "I've never BEEN to the main entrance! How would I get there?" She said, "Go to the front of the building." Finally I said, " Which way do I turn when I go out this door?" She said right and I painstakingly found the offices I needed with the help of the map. I had walked nine tenths of a mile by the time I saw the doctor. They need signs at each part of the parking lot saying where other buildings are located, and a map on a sign, like the Delmar Loop or any other series of buildings.
worst ER I have ever been in. Took my sister in around 2:30 pm because her Dr suggested she go to the ER because she had been having shortness of breath and some chest pains. They took her in to triage immediately and did an EKG and blood work and chest X-ray and told us to go back in the waiting room and someone will get us back as soon as they can. Well needless to say 6 hours later we were still sitting and waiting. When we started seeing them come out and take people back that came in way after we did with a toe injury and ankle injury that’s when we left. Went up to the guys at the front and asked why they are getting seen before and was told it goes by the severity of the illness. I’m sorry but when you have people waiting for hours that are having chest pains and not breathing well I think that should be a little more urgent than a toe injury or hurt foot. There were people laying on the chairs hacking, an older man bleeding from sores and an array of other things. All they did with some of these people, was the standard triage and leave them sitting in wheel chairs for hours and occasionally taking vitals signs. There were at least 3 people that I saw leave before ever being sent by an ER doctor that we’re really I’ll. In my opinion if this is what our insurance premiums goes for to be treated or should I say not treated when we are sick or in need of help then these hospitals should not get the government grants that our tax dollars also fund. All we heard was there were no beds available then why are these hospitals building these new facilities if they don’t have enough beds at the emergency room. And to close every time I have gone to St. Anthony’s / Mercy I have had one bad experience after another. You would think I learn not to go there.
Sat in the ER for 3 hours. They took my blood pressure and temperature and then assigned me a chair in the waiting room. During the 3 hours, no one from the waiting room was called back. There were at least 30 people waiting at 9 pm. The man next to me had been there 9 1/2 hours and hadn’t been seen. I signed myself out and was at urgent care at 8:15 the next morning. It’s sad that no one cares if you’re crying, in pain, have broken bones…I get that there are busy times but people were walking out left and right. I’ll choose another family of hospitals next time.
I'm so disappointed with all the keyboard warriors giving damaging 1 star reviews of this hospital mostly over capacity issues. Look folks, it's like any other business, if you show up and they are packed you either wait or you can go somewhere else. It's not their fault when more people show up than they have the capacity to handle. I have been at this facility for two multi-day stays and at least twice a month since May of 2022, they have a wonderful staff from one end of the facilty to the other and they have treated me with the utmost care and respect. I love this hospital and their fantastic staff.
This is the worst ER care in the entire metro area. I was hopeful when Mercy took over it would get better but apparently not even a larger health system can help this place. The staff acts like asking questions burdens them and are quick to pass off the moment they get tired of talking to you. That’s if you can even get them to answer the phone. The level of apathy show by several staff members is reflected in their sub par care. I get our nurses are overwhelmed but the administration needs to get their act together.
