Went to the St. Catherine’s Emergency Room the other evening for what turned out to be a hernia. My family has lived in the area for over 40 years and have been to the St. Catherine’s Emergency Room and Hospital many times over the years. Lying on the gurney waiting to be discharged after my medical condition was evaluated, diagnosed and treated, it occurred to me what an incredibly special staff that they have here. From the security guard at the front door to the people that transport you around the hospital for diagnostic tests and all the Doctors and Nurses. Everyone I met that took care of me was extremely professional, courteous, caring, efficient and just plain excellent. I felt like they treated me like I was family. It actually brought a tear to my eye to be so fortunate and blessed to have an Emergency room staff like this in my neighborhood and it has gotten even better over the years. Thank you to all the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospital and Emergency Room for you exceptional care. It did not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. You make a difficult job look like a walk in the park.
I’m writing this reviews to hopefully help others from making the same mistake I did, attempting to obtain emergency services from this hospital. I went there on September 13th 2023 at 2 pm because my wife, who is pregnant was possibly leaking amniotic fluid. Upon entering the emergency department they were no triage nurse at the desk. I thought to myself am in the ER ? So after 10 minutes someone shows up to take our info. We informed the nurse what the issue was and she informed us it was going to be an extensive wait. We were there for an hour already before phoning our doctor to update her with the current status, and she was appalled that they weren’t treating it as an emergency and didn’t triage her correctly. She advised us to leave immediately and respond to North well hospital in Bayshore. Upon exiting the hospital, again there was no one at the front desk to tell that we were leaving. My wife wanted to wait to inform them we were leaving, I said we could be waiting a half hour for someone to come back, let’s go, and we left. Upon arriving at Northwell, my wife was in the ER and receiving treatment with in a half hour. One positive thing I can say about St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is that they have ample parking near the ER. Never again will I come to this hospital.
Gave birth to a preemie at St. Catherine’s and I could not recommend them more. Baby and I were both in trouble and everyone that cared for us knew the severity of the situation. The entire time I was met with professionalism, dignity and most importantly compassion. From Labor & delivery, NICU, radiology and everyone is between it was an amazing experience. Dr. Halpert, his in office sono tech and the numerous medical professionals at St. Catherine’s not only saved my life but the life of my baby. Unfortunately we needed to be transferred out to a different NICU but I can’t thank the staff at St. Catherine’s enough. I have a healthy, happy and thriving child as a result of a wonderful team. St. Catherine’s will forever hold a special place in our heart
I was in the ED with my daughter and from the min I walked in- everyone was pleasant and caring. Yes it was tight but I heard how the Drs were nice to the other patients, especially the elderly. The nurses, the transport, the aides were all nice... and very efficient and they listened - St. Catherine sure concentrates on bedside manner... Thank you
I visited St. Catherine for an outpatient gallbladder removal with Dr. William Sellers and the staff was wonderful. It was my first surgery, so I was extremely nervous, but the nurses were understanding and calmed me down. My only real complaint is that during recovery I felt a bit rushed to leave. I was nauseous and dreading the car ride home, so the nurse gave me a second type of medication to help with the nausea. Although she kept saying to "take my time" I still felt like I needed to get out quickly. It was likely just my anxiety, though.
I had an abdominal hysterectomy performed by Dr. Kohan. My whole experience was amazing. Dr. Kohan is very experienced and knowledgeable. I came across many nurses and staff and they were all phenomenal. They provided absolute top care. Everyone is very profesional and kind. I want to thank everyone. Specially my nurses Samantha, Tori, Jenn and many others. I was well taken care of and help at all times. Thank you ,St. Catherine of Siena Hospital.
I go in for anxiety or a heart attack because I can’t breath. Nurse hurts my arm leaving it bruised and swollen to only draw blood. Other nurse and telling me they need the same arm I tell her no a couple of times to find out that the blood they took was no good 1:30-2:00am btw takes all new blood and at the end of the visit they tell me is Gerd. Gerd? I would think it was an anxiety attack?! I went home with the same problems of not breathing have to go somewhere else. They don’t deserve a star! The place was empty they had to sit me next to a door they constantly slamming. Nurse never bothered to check up on me in the meantime. All you hear is them laughing and joking on the floor not very professional. They told me them selves that it’s a slow night just HORRIBLE SERVICE and my freaking arm hurts plus how I still feel.
I had bilateral mastectomy performed by Dr. Deitch and several visits to the emergency room for other issues and received excellent care. Doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers where wonderful.
This hospital is amazing. Absolutely fabolous caring staff. Second highest CHS next to St. Francis. I drew this while there from my novel ALICE ASCENDS. One North is considered the second best psych unit in the tri state area. The staff are so nice, caring and fun to joke around with. I am right now writing my autobiography and On North plays a big role in it. That's how inspiring that place was... God bless you all.
What a surprise. 5 days after writing a super review St C Dr released brother from drug side effects suicide watch of 16 days. Apparently didn’t want to try new meds for this 50 yr lithium dependent now lithium toxic pt. Now he’s back at Stonybrook and we don’t know what comes next.
