The receptionists here are RUDE and AWFUL! I was yelled at by front desk lady. And while there watched front desk lady yell at others as they came in. She was awful. Receptionist upstairs was degrading an older couple and yelling at them as I sat there in the waiting room. I was so displeased with what I saw in the few hours I was there. Upside is the care my husband got from the surgeon was amazing and he did a FANTASTIC JOB!
My emergency room experience has always been good. I was having trouble breathing when I got there November 2021. Eventually I ended up moving to a room and stayed 3 days. The findings of my breathing was found to be blood clots in my lung. Of all the times I have had to go to the emergency room, and there has been a few. I have Never had a problem with the nurses, doctors or other staff. I have been yelled at for not following the nurses orders, but that was my fault! I know how frustrating it is to not have things go the way you think they should. I do know Holidays are not a good time to be there, but that was when the hospital was located in Beech Grove. A big Thank you to all of St. Francis Hospital staff. Merry Christmas too!
Please: If you read this before you go there....don't! This is a terrible facility and it is systemic throughout the building. They have bred a culture of laziness & apathy towards patients, doctors, and administration. As an admitted patient, you won't be fed, you will be ignored, you will be charged for an amazing number of tests that never happened, and you will be blatantly lied to over and over. This happens at all hospitals but we've never seen one as bad as St. Francis. The staff openly speaks terribly of the hospital, their jobs, and having to be there. They all want to work somewhere else and are actively trying, every day, to get out. Please.....do not go there.
Literally waited in a waiting room for 4 hours in the emergency area to get took to another waiting area for 2 hours to get took to another room to wait for the nurse and the lady who takes info. "Btw the lady who took info was very quick." For the nurse to come in 3 times before she could actually begin. Then... I was taken out of that room into a room with other people and curtains to wait for results and ect.. keep in mind there are plenty of nurses not doing anything in this area unless they are just trained to work at computers... But at this point I told them I wanted to just leave and lay in MY bed because I don't feel good and this experience with this hospital hasn't helped anything. Been sitting here for 30 minutes for someone to take a needle out of my arm so I can leave. If you care about your time and quality of care I would seek else were. On top of that the front desk people were very rude and one actually was talking about how she didn't like her job. One was very nice though. Not like this review will make a difference anyways.
I've bothered specialist after specialist seeking help. I reached 95lbs at one point because I could not eat, I lost jobs from calling in, lost my home from losing jobs and was so ready to give up. I'm a single mother and for 5 years I've been ill. I've been begging for someone to believe me.. Doctors sent me home with Benzos repeatedly because they said I have anxiety and it's all in my head. One even told me that I make myself sick for attention. Well, just minutes into my visit with Dr.Perkins, he was confident I had endometriosis and he was correct. Today he removed as much of it as possible. Words can't describe how validating and freeing today was. A million times thank you. Truly.
Richard B. Indianapolis, IN 022 8/18/2022 3 photos I have been here for around three weeks ..the staff was amazing ...they love their job you can tell. they always work with an uplifting spirit. the acute therapy unit on the sixth floor is a place that should be the example other hospitals should follow. from the nurses to the therapists gave me comfort and ideals and proper ways to now accomplish what we could.d do many years ago... the problem I had with st. Francis is that the housekeeping is terrible and disgusting. the administration evidently thinks that it is ok to short-staff housekeeping. I notice that this is a practice all through the hospital short staff, overworked, and blame it on covid. during the time I was here, they never cleaned the bathroom. the toilet, floor, shower. never mopped or swept. the room was cleaned only swept while I was here and never mopped only because I raise the issue with the doctor. ...same thing ....the room was never really cleaned, sanitized, etc. it was disgusting. the housekeeper apologized saying that they are so short-staffed. the nurses are now doing many other jobs that used to be done by other staff...they bring in the lunch trays, empty trash, and empty towels, take meals out, pick up things in the room, so many things that I remember others handled so these nurses could attend to the patients. you know they realized that they could make money, short staff and blame covid and costs haven't gone short-staffed...and profits haven't gone short-staffed...shame on them... nurses and physical and occupational therapists ...you are amazing. staff, you get 5-star housekeeping you get a 1 and it isn't the employees to blame ...administration you should take the cleanliness more attention.
If you want to spend your loved one's last few days on Earth being hassled and treated with the utmost disrespect by nursing staff, this is the hospital for you. They couldn't get their stories straight about how many visitors we could have. We were told visitors could not be anywhere in the hospital once leaving the room, that they had to completely get out of the building. We were told they had to limit visitors in our loved one's room because they "might" need to rush in there in an emergency, even though she had opted for comfort care only--there wasn't going to be any need for them to rush into the room. Their main focus was keeping as many people out as they could, even though our loved one had a few days left, at most. The one thing you won't find here is compassion, not even when you're dying. They really need to change their name. They make a mockery of St. Francis.
This place should be SUED OUT OF EXISTENCE for how they IGNORE their cancer patients and elderly! Imagine calling the nurses line via the remote on the bed repeatedly for my grandmother for 5 HOURS and hearing “We will be there in a minute “ and never showing up! And then being told “We don’t do morphine drips anymore”, I asked other people’s family around our room and they confirmed THEIR family was on morphine drip! Calling her doctor and her own primary doctor saying they do morphine and that THIS hospital was lying!
This used tp be my favorite Emergency room to go to. Because of the way I was treated really good by the nurses and the doctors but the last time I went there I got treated horribly and didn't get any help at all. I had my daughter with me. And I was basically refused treatment. I've actually been told by 2 of my doctors today that I need to go back to the emergency room but I'm terrified to go to this emergency room even though it was always one of my favorites.
The ABSOLUTE worst case of human compassion from a hospital”. I went by AMBULANCE with a fever and the triage nurse was so rude put me in the waiting room with COVID no shoes or socks half dressed NO MASK! I left without getting care and went to the Veterans Hospital. As a female veteran I deserve good treatment like everyone from this horrible horrible place! I had spread Covid all throughout the waiting room and ST FRANCIS did NOT care. THE VA HOSPITAL admitted me.
