Founded in 1916, St. Joseph’s College (SJCNY) is a four-year, comprehensive, coeducational, private institution in the liberal arts tradition with physical campuses in Brooklyn and Patchogue, New York, and a fully online campus through SJC Online. With a combined enrollment of approximately 5,000 students, SJC offers the lowest tuition of all top-tier private colleges on Long Island, and is one of the most affordable private institutions in the tri-state area. With nearly 600 faculty members, the College enjoys a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1, which provides individual attention in an open, supportive atmosphere.

In contrast to the College’s historic brownstones, its library, McEntegart Hall, was named by the New York State education commissioner as an Electronic Doorway Library. The Dillon Child Study Center, a teaching facility for St. Joseph’s child study majors and a preschool for members of the community, was one of the first of its kind on the East Coast. Named after the College’s sixth president, S. Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D., the 40,000 square-foot Hill Center features a 270-seat, NCAA-regulation basketball and volleyball court, conference rooms, a dance studio, an outdoor terrace overlooking Vanderbilt Avenue, a fully-equipped sports medicine suite and a 90-car underground parking garage.

The Long Island Campus of St. Joseph’s is located in Patchogue at 155 West Roe Boulevard, directly off Sunrise Highway. Well situated on the South Shore of eastern Long Island, SJC Long Island is just minutes from the Great South Bay, L.I. MacArthur Airport, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Orient Point and many of Long Island’s ocean beaches. New York City is just a short ride on the Long Island Rail Road.
Spread over a 30-acre lakeside campus on the outskirts of Patchogue Village, facilities include six buildings and the new Outdoor Field Complex.
CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS
The John A. Danzi Athletic Center boasts an elevated track, six-lane pool, weight room, fitness center and NCAA regulation basketball court that can seat 1,500. The $8 million, 33,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Business Technology Center opened in October 2002, housing classrooms, computer labs and faculty offices.

The mission of St. Joseph's College is to provide a strong academic and value-oriented education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, rooted in a liberal arts tradition that supports provision for career preparation and enhancement. The College prepares each student for a life characterized by integrity, intellectual and spiritual values, social responsibility and service - a life that is worthy of the College’s motto, Esse non videri: “To be, not to seem.”
More than 50 undergraduate majors, pre-professional and certificate programs, with graduate degrees in management, business, health care management, human services, nursing, accounting and education. Graduate degrees include Childhood or Adolescent Special Education with an annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities, Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Special Education, Literacy and Cognition, Mathematics Education and a dual M.A. in Literacy and Cognition/Special Education with an annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities. Other degrees include Human Services Leadership, an M.S. in Forensic Computing, an M.S. in Nursing and an M.S. in Management with concentrations in Organizational Management, Health Care Management and Human Resources Management. SJC offers M.B.A. degrees in Accounting, Health Care Management and Health Care Management with a concentration in Health Information Systems, as well as an online Executive M.B.A. program. At SJC Brooklyn, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing is available through the College’s Writer’s Foundry. There are also three advanced graduate certificates in Human Services Leadership, Human Resources and Health Care Management. The College also offers many dual-degree programs which allow students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in a condensed period of time. SJC Online offers more than 15 academic offerings including undergraduate and graduate degrees, dual degrees and certificates.
