St. Mark Catholic School was established in 1982 in order to fulfill a need in the Catholic community of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish, in Plano, Texas. The school opened, welcoming 113 children in grades Kindergarten through third. The school's use of the educational building consisted of five classrooms, a small library, and the two-room main office. The church activity building provided space for physical education classes and a student lunchroom. The staff in 1982 was comprised of the principal, secretary, and six teachers.

Presently, over forty staff members occupy the school plant, which consists of three building totaling 84,000 square feet on a 14.7 acre site.

St. Mark is recognized by the United States Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon Exemplary School in 1992 and again in 2007. The school is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department. The Diocese of Dallas Office of Education, in compliance with the Texas Education Agency, designs the curriculum.

Amazing school, but not for everyone. This school has a top notch education, extremely worth it, but be aware the students they need to work and parents need to support them to succeed all the way. The school encourage a community environment, full of values, and hard work. Before this school, we tried others and finally my daughter found a challenge for her mind
This school is a hidden gem in Plano! It is an amazing school with outstanding teachers and staff! Our son has thrived in every way since moving him to this school in first grade. The community is great also! So many wonderful families, that are very welcoming and inclusive! Our son loves going to this school and we couldn't be happier with our decision to send him to St. Mark Catholic School!
I went to school here starting in 1st grade and graduated 8th grade in 2009. I didn't care where I went to HS, as long as it wasn't another private Catholic school. I greatly appreciate the relationship I built with God our Father while attending St. Mark's. Some classmates were pretty mean, and most of the teachers weren't sympathetic at all. Actually, many of the teachers were straight up rude to students who need special help understanding material, following in silent straight lines down the hall, harassments from other classmates. The Muslim girl who joined our class in middle school was so terribly treated by fellow students. That's when I realized this school isn't as Christian as they speak. Any one who wasn't like the popular crowd was not treated kindly. One teacher growled at students who bothered her; another blindly blamed students; another yelled at students for STEPPING ON HER RUG; some liked to make students feel inadequate; and one told a student she was like a butterfly with no real direction and probably won't end up being very successful that teacher has since died. I'm sure every school has these issues. But I didn't feel at home here, except in the incredibly hot Church every Friday morning.
We have two St Mark grads and one current student. They are not perfect but overall the school has been awesome for our family. It is a great community and we have made some great friends here. The school academics prepared my kids well for the rigors and structure of high school. We also appreciate the emphasis on service and living Christian values. Be Golden!
Excellent school - proven by many awards and accolades. We are very lucky to have found St. Mark Catholic School in Plano. This school is truly a gem out of the private schools in North Texas. It’s definitely the best private school in Plano and Collin County! My neighbors and I do not mind driving our children from the west side of Plano to be a part of this great community. The school has very affectionate environment for the kids with a community which is kind and supportive. Very engaging class activities, detailed paper work, new experiments and loads of educational and fun activities for the kids. Currently attending 1st grade, my son has been at St. Mark’s for two years now. My child has received an excellent education. He reads chapter books and does math problems that are well advanced for his age! He has even attended a math Olympiad hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas and will be participating in the Creative Writing competition of local catholic schools later this year. He has truly flourished since being at St. Mark Catholic School. He also says that he doesn't want to leave until high school! And, we are right there with him. The school offers free enrichment classes and their STEM classes are “awesome”-my son cherishes those activities. In addition, teachers connect very well with the parents updating on child’s progress. When children need it, the teachers and administration go the extra mile for your child to learn. The school goes out of its way to involve parents as well as grandparents. The teachers, its principal, Mrs. Opon, and assistant principal, Mrs. Steinkirchner, are available anytime to discuss issues concerning your child. The community is welcoming and supportive. The classrooms are fully resourced and well organized. Cannot recommend enough. As a parent, I feel safe and proud to leave my son and soon my daughter at St. Mark Catholic. For being so wonderful, they are very reasonably priced compared to other private schools. You should at least visit this school once before you consider anything else.
Sending our 3 children to St. Mark Catholic School has been one of the best decisions as parents we have made. Small class sizes, caring teachers, a rigorous curriculum, all in a faith-filled and loving environment.
We started St Mark 5yrs ago when we moved to Texas from Connecticut. My daughter started in the second term of PK3 and my son in the second term of K. They are in 3rd and 5th grade respectively now. We re evaluate our children’s schools every year to determine whether to go back to public school and every time we have decided to stay. The children love it here and make new friends every year even in the cases where there are new students coming in. It is wonderful how the whole school does service projects every month to help our community and the children understand and know what it means to help others. My husband and I are grateful for the principal Mrs Opon, who sets a great example of inclusiveness and openness that the teachers and ultimately the school community follows. We always have access to the teachers when we need to have discussions about our child and we also get solutions to any issue that needs to be addressed. It really feels like home and school are working together for each and every child. There is technology as well as simple pen and paper to instruct the children. The curriculum is challenging and the children are also rooted in their faith. What a win/win! I’m proud to be a St Mark parent. I wish it went all the way to twelfth grade. Thank you St Mark Adeola
Best Catholic School environment. We love the teachers, staff and students! 5 star!!!
The teachers dont care they murmur among themselves they get angry at you for mistakes and the principals are like FBI interrogators just dont apply and save yourself like 20,000 dollars.
