Description

Rooted in Tradition, Educating for the Future

Mission

The primary role of St. Mary's School is the continuous formation of our students through a Catholic program of education committed to a standard of excellence. We help students to develop their spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical abilities within a community dedicated to living the gospel. In cooperation with the family, we help students to form character, so that they will accept responsibility to fulfill their personal potential and learn to share their gifts through love for all.

I went to St. Mary's from k-8, and I truly couldn't imagine my children going anywhere else.  I currently have one about to graduate 8th grade, one in pre-k 3 and one who is more than ready to start.  There is no better feeling than knowing when we take our boys to school that we do not have to worry about what they are being exposed to or taught.  Teachers and staff are always in communication and never hesitant to speak with me whenever I ask. The principal Mrs. Wyles truly cares about her students and it really does feel like we are all family, The morals and values that my children are being taught are hands down the best and I know they are being challenged academically, it's a win-win.  Families are encouraged to spend time volunteering at the school and I love that even though they are in school, I still get to be involved in their day to day. So thankful for being able to send our kids here!
St. Mary's has exceeded our expectations and restored our faith in teaching. We transferred from public school to St. Mary's this year due to the lack of control in public schools. The students and teachers have a mutual respect for each other which provides a positive learning environment. Our daughter has excelled under the supervision of Mrs. Wyles and her team of caring and engaging teachers. I wish we would have found this little gem of a school sooner. Highly recommend taking a tour of this school to see first-hand the program, structure and guidance that students receive here.
Excellent school! The teachers really have taken the time to get to know my child, work with him so he's successful, and work with me and my wife so we're both on the same page with his progress. This school was exactly what my boy needed. He is challenged and not allowed to be lazy. At the same time, the teachers do care and really does like how they teach. Besides academics, the school has a sports program for middle schoolers as well. I couldn't recommend this school enough.
Many of the teachers the schools teachers are non certified to be teaching. One in specific, Mrs Reed does yells at her students for saying small phrases such as “bless you”. The behavioral standards for students are unreasonably high. If a student talked to loud then the whole class has punishment, if one student made a wrong decision the entire class would have to pay the price instead of the situation being handled individually between student and teacher. detentions were given for chewing gum or drawing harmless art on your hand. The school was also having a lot of financial issues as well
The teachers there are so dedicated; Theresa Wyles, the principle does an excellent job; and the atmosphere among the student body is so wholesome and encouraging. The school focuses on the fundamentals of grammar, memorization, history, reading, arithmetic, and the virtues. They receive Catholic formation but with respect to those who are not Catholic. They receive instructions in both Latin and Spanish while learning theater, music, Gregorian chant, and public speaking. Tuition is a challenge but they are more that willing to work with anyone who cannot pay the full tuition. Definitely check out this place.
My girls have excelled tremendously academically since we moved them to Saint Mary’s this year. We wish we would have made the move to this wonderful institution when we first moved to Temple. Principal, Mrs. Wyles is amazing and has done everything in her power to help and make us feel welcomed. My childrens teacher Mrs. Walters is the best! She is the reason my girls are growing so much academically and as a young lady’s. We are truly blessed to have her as there teacher. As an educator I recommend Saint Mary’s School without hesitation! Your child will not only grow academically but also in their faith.
We absolutely love this school! My daughter started last year in pre k 3 class and learned more in the first month than i could have taught her all year! This year she is in pre k 4 and is continuing to excel and is far beyond some of her friends who attend other schools in town. We love all three of her teachers so much, they are kind and patient and take time to pray with and teach all of the students in such a calm and happy environment. My daughter is so in love with learning right now and I can’t wait for my son to attend next year!
Some teachers don't teach, and Mrs.Reed yells at her students for saying bless you, despite the "catholic values" she preaches. Mr. Smith and Mrs.Maldonado are great though. They are honestly amazing. The principal doesn't care about the older students, and talks down to them. No freedom, at all.
The PreK teachers are the worst. I had to pull my 3yrs old son out because they are NOT able to deal with him, they lack compassion and do not have the right qualifications. Look them up, they don’t even have teaching certifications. They had a problem even if my child crawled on the floor. If they have a PreK program, toddlers can’t behave like adults, that’s why they are still in a developmental stage at that age, mix with unqualified teachers is a recipe for disaster. Extremely disappointed. All the school wants is your money
Wonderful school. Principal and the teachers are invested in their students. Highly recommended. Currently with the Prek class. My child is so happy there and enjoys it.
