St. Paul the Apostle School
The School Philosophy
St. Paul the Apostle School exists as part of the Christian Catholic Community of Faith in Yonkers, New York. The goal of our school is to support parents who want the Christ way for their children so that the children motivated by love for Truth, may mature to responsible adulthood and contribute to the wholeness of the community.
We believe in the value of each individual student, based on the teachings of Jesus, as taught to us by the Catholic Church.
Our basic purpose is to provide a well-rounded quality education, with emphasis on basic skills. We strive to give each student the tools necessary for spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
We attempt to reinforce the work of God's Spirit by encouraging values that form good conscience, so that students will become responsible citizens, capable and willing to serve the community and the church when they reach adulthood.
With the belief that all people are God's children, we welcome children of all races, nationalities and
creeds.
We work hand in hand, as a true community of faith, to become more aware of Christ's present, so that our efforts may be mirrors of His love for others.
Religious Studies
Each student at St. Paul the Apostle School follows a program of religious studies. These studies are essential to the total education of a maturing student and one of the main reasons for the existence of the catholic school. Non-Catholic students will follow the same religion curriculum and participate in the same school-sponsored religious services as catholic students.
Family life of the students that is supported by the catholic message of the school remains the primary source of the student's faith.
Academic Policies Curriculum
The general curriclum of the school follows that of the state as it is adopted by the Archdiocese of
New York. Because of the cultural and national diversity that comprises the archdiocesan school system, much latitude is given to the individual schools to develop a curriculum to fit their needs without ever sacrificing that requisites of a well-rounded course of study. At the beginning of each school year back-to-school night will be held and the parents will presented with an overview of the curriculum for their child's grade level.
