Very cute coffee place we just discovered. All products and food are organic. Pear pie was ok. We will come back soon because we especially liked the atmosphere there!
I was disappointed at Abbey because the prices were very high. The soup came with no bread or crackers only a composite. I asked to try one of their pastries and I had to buy a dozen of them. But they want donations on top of the high prices. Lovely sitting outside with five tables and nice people.
I loved stumbling on the Abbey. The environment is warm and welcoming and the fruit tartlets are the best I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
I got a chocolate croissant/pain au chocolat, which has been one of my favorite pastries since living in Paris as an au pair. The pastry was so bready and dry, not a single flake or bit of butter to be found see the pic, it looks like a roll, not a laminated dough. I wanted to love this pastry shop as it's adorable inside and their selection is great but this was so disappointing to eat, maybe the worst non-packaged pain au chocolat I've ever had.
The staff was kind & brought us samples while we were sitting outside. Loved their Guatemalan drip coffee & their ham & cheese crepe.
Very cute place with outside seats. Real nuns speaking french. Mostly pastries and breakfast items but Beef Bourguignon, chicken Provencale is available.
Very friendly nuns and super quality pastries, OMG never had any fruit tarts as fresh as theirs. I felt like their strawberry were hand picked the same day The coffee and latte were tasty service was great and they went above to let us have a great experience in beautiful downtown of Wilmette by staying pass their closing time on our first visit . They are great asset for the area. My wife and I stopped by twice during our visit and we highly recommend to who ever passing the area to check their store. Update : Same great taste and friendly nuns
Lovely French nuns with a terrific cause! Their croissants are like I remembered when I was in Paris! You will never taste anything better outside France!
Pure perfection and better than the pastries I’ve had in France. The sisters are pure delight and selection is wide. The cheese straws have the most magical flaky texture. We only get to go about once per year due to the distance we live, but it’s worth it every trip!!
Entirely run by French nuns for charitable means, they are trained in the French art of patisserie and baking with authentic baguettes, croissants, cakes, pastries and more. Classical music plays in the background. Indoor and outdoor seating with lovely handmade local gift options for sale, such as jam or savory snacks. Choose from a variety of cafe drink options, such as coffee, cappuccino, tea or hot chocolate with your chosen treat. A delightful visit every time.
