I had an accident while moving into my house on the 4th of July involving a mirror. Shards of glass sliced the tips of 2 fingers on my dominant hand. When I entered the ER scared and bleeding, everyone there was very comforting. They nurses kept my spirits up while they were treating me, and the x-ray tech was very compassionate. The doctors were very kind as well. They sutured me back together and recommended multiple hand specialists for follow up appointments. A little over a month later, you can barely see the scars. I'm a doctor myself, and I can continue to do my job thanks to them. Thank y'all for what you do.
I’m not sure how their triage system works, in peds, but there is vast room for improvement. After hours waiting, had to checked in at the front desk to make sure my son was actually checked in. Then was approached because they forgot a signature. We figured if the Er felt a 3 hour wait for a thunderclap headache was safe, that we’d just go home and call an ambulance if things got worse. Many of children checked in after us was taken back, seemly in less worse of a condition. Several other parents left before their kids got seen as well. If we get billed for the triage, I am going to be livid and fight it.
I wish I could give zero stars. My young child was very sick not improving after 8 days with the flu. It was obvious the flu had turned into a bacterial infection and she needed antibiotics. She had high fever, dehydrated and a dangerously high heart rate. After waiting hours to see someone, the Doctor said she didn't know why she was still sick but would be fine and to give her some Benadryl. I told her over and over she needed antibiotics and the doctor refused. Would not even give her IV fluids!! She did NOTHING!! My child was suffering and she sent her home. I took her somewhere else a few hours later and she did have an infection. She needed the antibiotics and was not in good shape. 6 hours after her first dose she started to improve. This experience was so stressful and frustrating and scary! I will never step foot in this place again.
If I could leave zero stars I would. The pediatric department is a total joke. This is the second time I’ve brought my child here when she was very ill. She had 103 fever and extreme diarrhea. The only thing they did was a urinalysis. Then discharged us. She was treated like she didn’t matter and I was treated like a hypochondriac. I would never put my child through this if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. The other time I brought her in was when she had RSV. The child could barely breathe, had high fever, and was basically lifeless. They did nothing for her at that visit either other than give me paperwork to read. I could have used google for that information. I brought her in for help. This emergency department is a disgrace to the healthcare system. I will never bring my child here again. If she is ever in need of emergency care again I will drive all the way to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans before bringing her to St.Tammany hospital.
I have visited the ER several times in the last 10 years since we moved here. The process of checking in, triage, and being placed in a room to see a doctor is always pretty quick. We have had a variety of reasons for visiting and it has always been a positive experience. I am glad to have quality care so close to home.
Entered with dehydrated son. He was hardly able to walk. I had on a mask but he did not. Rather than offering him a mask, they began to yell at him for not having one while I was simultaneously asking them for one. Then they told us he would have to wait six hours before being seen. Six hours. That’s hardly an emergency room. I looked on the website and it said 32 minutes. Will not return.
Top notch staff and facilities. Would have easily been 5 out of 5 if it weren't for the fact that we had to wait over 3 to 4 hrs to be transferred to the main campus by Acadian Ambulance, which was the same situation at our previous visit..
I would not like to go to any other hospital or E.R. have always been treated excellent Thanks to all the Great Staff
