Cafeteria food is decent here but super expensive. One salad and water is $21. Nurses and staff are SUPER friendly and accommodating if you're staying overnight with a patient. ER wait wasn't too bad.
I recently moved to the area and this was my first visit to Stafford hospital, with my mother. Unfortunately the staff was rude, incredibly inept and failed to provide the standard of care one would expect in an emergency room. Highly disappointed in the experience we had and will definitely choose a different facility for emergencies in the future.
I feel like I would’ve had a better experience if I saw an actual doctor in the emergency room. I was helped by PA that could care less. She didn’t even examine my injured leg or my red bruised swollen hand. She half listened to my health concerns and didn’t provide any pain pills or ice pack. I was in there from 1:30 PM to 8:30 p.m., apparently she got off at 7 pm and made no effort to discharge me. So glad the replacement was nice and filled me in on my condition. Couldn’t wait to get home to elevate my leg and ice it. Not sure why they wouldn’t do it there. I overheard her complaining at the nurses station about how today has been so busy with all these people from car accidents. So sorry somebody ran me off the road and I was in an accident. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had! The room they put me in was extremely dirty. It wasn’t clean from the previous person that was in there. I really wish I just went to patient first.
Having recently moved here, I was apprehensive about visiting an unknown Emergency Department. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent care I received from all the staff. Everyone was so positive and calmed my anxiety down. Every step of care was performed in a timely manner, and the team explained everything they were doing in terms that I could understand. I feel like I was provided with a thorough examination, and all tests needed were performed. I can’t say enough good things about this department. Keep up the great work!
Not a goof experience today within the ER and I know this hospital can do better. Patients need your undue attention. This evening I witnessed the nursing staff’s rudeness, literally ignored a patient’s request for a urinal, and no assistance for the patient as he was unable to retrieve his clothes to dress and when the patient struggled to get dressed and released. Please think about your behavior/attitude prior to arriving at work, no one deserves this kind of treatment when they feel ill.
I went to the ER yesterday for a pain I’d been having but this day specifically it got worse and my mom made me go in because she was getting worried and overall the nurses and everyone were really nice and they were really busy that night and the wait for me wasn’t too bad. However I did have this one nurse who was kinda rude. In the moment when she came in the pain had subsided a little and due to personal reasons I do not like to take medicine if I don’t have to and I felt like in the moment I didn’t need it and I didn’t want pain medicine in my IV. I was supposed to have a choice wether I wanted it or not and when she asked I said no thank you but she kept asking over and over again at least four times giving different reasons why I should and trying to convince me and everytime I said no thank you she gave me this weird kinda judgemental look and kept asking. Which I kinda understand because being in the ER most people want pain medicine but the point is I said no and it was rude to keep asking. But it felt like I was annoying her and I got uncomfortable and just agreed to it. Then when I was waiting in the lobby for results that same nurse came to give results and she said everything out loud and was being kinda loud about it and made me very uncomfortable as people were starting to stare at me and I just feel like it was kinda rude considering she didn’t even ask me if that was okay and she did it to other patient as well. it’s like she kinda didn’t care about me and she had better things to do. Maybe I’m being over dramatic but I left feeling guilty for even going and I’m never going to the hospital again because I am embarrassed on the bright side the nurse who gave me an X-ray was so so sweet and she took my feelings into consideration as she waited for my mom to leave the room before asking if I was pregnant and even though I wasn’t I really appreciate her waiting for my mom to leave because I know that me and a lot of other young girls would say no if the parent was still in the room and we were. I feel like this is something a lot of doctors don’t consider but she did and I’m thankful for that. Sorry if I’m being over dramatic about that other nurse.
Brought my son in for some stomach pain and found he had a collapsed lung. They placed a chest tube and had him transferred to VCU. We found out after arriving at the Children's Hospital that they used an adult-sized tube, and used terrible placement right through the pectoral muscle, so his pain and discomfort was much greater than necessary. Today I just found out they selected an out-of-network ambulance for the transfer, which was not time-sensitive after the tube was placed, so I'm stuck with a $5,400 bill on top of all the other bills I'll be hit with on our high deductible plan. Thanks for nothing Stafford Hospital!
I was recently seen in the ER. I had two fantastic nurses overseeing me. A huge shout out to Amy and Michelle for everything you ladies did for me. You made sure I was not in any pain while I was there. If I ever have to go back I want these two ladies to be my nurses. Even though the ER was very busy not one time was I ever rushed. They both were very prompt. Thank you both so much!
My daughter is currently in Stafford Hospital with a possible fractured hip or pelvis. She has been here for over an hour in excruciating pain and has yet to be seen by a doctor or been given medication to help ease the pain. Currently 34 people in the Emergency Room and only one doctor. This is ridiculous
All they are willing to do is push pills and take X-rays. If you request any other imaging they’ll tell you they don’t have the resources unless you’re holding your own head in your hands. Spare yourself the waste of time, frustration and your insurance the charges for “care” that you don’t receive. You’ll only be met with scripted “awws and I’m so sorry.” What a backwards, careless healthcare system we have in the US.
