The museum is a beautiful building. Outside is a walking tour that highlights the 5 local nations. Each is featured with recorded history and monuments has you walk towards the towering display of Chief Standing Bear. The area is beautiful and peaceful. I loved that local people parked and got out with their families to walk around the trail. The displays are very impressive and informational. Inside the museum they also have traveling displays so it changes. A good reason to visit several times. Every time I drive through Ponca City I love to stop here and be reminded of our Native American heritage. Please stop here if you are near the area to enjoy.
The Standing Bear Pow Wow was incredible! The gorgeous clothing, jewelry, song and dance was one of the neatest things I've ever seen. Vendors were there selling handmade items which were of quality you rarely find these days. People were so friendly and welcoming. If you've never been, you should visit.
Although this museum was relatively small compared with the other museums I visited in the area, there were many informative exhibits, including several related to the story of Standing Bear. Also, I normally try to share photos of a few exhibits, but this museum didn’t allow taking photos. Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Small museum that could use some technical updates but I'm sure funding is an issue. This is an important museum for not only Native Americans bit for all to understand the history and struggle of Native Americans in this country. Most of the history of Standing Bear is available elsewhere but it is nice to see this important historical figure recognized in this way.
Good explanation and excellent displays and artwork of this important court case and the supporting tribesVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This place was fabulous. Lots of beautiful artwork and pottery for sale in the center. Well laid out, comfortable and inviting. The gentleman greeted us pleasantly and provided us some information about the center and grounds. The statues and tribe tributes throughout the park are fabulous! However, the statue of Standing Bear and the eternal flame in the fire pit were spectacular. This is a must see attraction in the area!

Quaint- and well cared for facility. Geese were enjoyable. Beautiful landscape. A small waking trail on museum site. Good to stretch your legs. Great stop! Coming back to visit. At the museum Tony was so helpful. He give us information on surrounding activities. Great history- look forward to the PowWow in September. There is a small gift area, gallery, museum and beautiful music was playing. Clean restrooms. Nice break on a long trip or a destination if visiting Ponca and spending time in town. And it was all FREE!
Great field trip with 4th/5th graders! Nice trial walk outside and scavenger hunt inside the different exhibit rooms.
