Every city needs a dog park so I'm glad this one is here. People are friendly, clean up after their dogs and control their dogs if needed.
Been using this dog park for years. As always, you need to be careful when you bring your dog to an area with other dogs off leash, but I've had a generally good experience with other dogs/people. There's 2 sides big/small but most people just use one. There are two tables, some shaded areas, some agility training fixtures, and they usually keep all the poop bags filled. Edit: Not sure if its due to covid or a few years of me being away, but its not as kept up as it used to be. It's still big/clear, but the ground can be muddy for several days surrounding rain avoid the spring shower season.
Mostly clean, pretty good spacious area for dogs to run around in. It's not as maintained as it should be, but they've been doing better and better
Love this dog park everyone I've met there is so friendly. My dog loves to go and gets excited Everytime. We go all the time at least 4 times a week. My pup just got stayed and hasn't been in almost a month now but we will be back soon!
A nice place to take your dog out. Nothing special but still a good place!
My dog really loves going to this park and it’s currently the only one in Starkville. They have two separate areas for large and small dogs, but it’s mostly large dogs I see around here. My dog absolutely loves it and their are toys laying around and pools. I just which it was more grassy to help prevent all of the mud that pops up.
Nice park for dogs and the playground has been updated with new equipment. There is even a volleyball net with sand now. However the rest room building is still in need of repair and working locks
Way better than the one in Oxford!! Our dogs had a great time and we'll definitely be back. I would advise bringing a towel though because there's three or four kiddie pools for them to play in and really no way to prevent them from getting wet....which my pups were elated about.
I have two experiences here, one during the regular school year where there was a dog fight that took multiple people to break it up because apparently people are too stupid to realize you shouldn't bring your aggressive dog to the park! My wife was also pees on by someone else's un-trained dog. My other experience during the summer was nice and there was only 2 other dogs that we're very well behaved and the people were nice to talk with and they played with all three dogs and didn't just try to isolate their dog. It's a park you have to be willing to interact with all the dogs there if you go.
We stopped by with our 4 month old Husky on a recent trip to Starkville. He met some great dogs to play with and we met some awesome owners as well. It has an area for owners to sit in the shade and some picnic tables for relaxing while the dogs play. There is also a dog water fountain in a separate fenced in area, but I didn't notice a hose to wash off dirt and mud. Despite that, it's a great little dog park.
