Starlight Theatre Association is dedicated to producing, presenting and promoting excellence in musical theatre and the performing arts for diverse audiences of all ages, with continued programming for families and children. Starlight strives to enrich our region for all residents and visitors by building appreciation for the performing arts, making live theatre and music affordable and accessible, providing superior theatre arts education and community outreach programs, and delivering exceptional customer service. Starlight will remain a beloved Kansas City cultural tradition by devoting resources to preserving and enhancing our home venue in Swope Park and creating new memories for generations to come.

This was my first trip to the Starlight. I will definitely be back! This venue is amazing. From ample parking to amazing sound, it really is a great spot for a concert. Plus the grounds are gorgeous! There are at least 4 buildings of restrooms that I seen there could be more. They were very clean and air conditioned which was wonderful for the 97+ degree day that it was! The seats are nice with enough leg room! There are at least 6 food vendors there. You can get everything from pizza to street tacos, to burgers and chicken! Plus the standard popcorn and nachos. The show was spectacular and it didn't even take long to get out of the parking lot after the show was over! I'll definitely make the 3 hour drive for more shows there!
Great venue. There is not a bad seat in the house. They play the music a bit loud so I would recommend anyone with sensitive ears to bring ear protection especially for kids. Vendor pricing is reasonable with quality on par for events. Pay the extra for concrete parking if you pay in advance it is cheaper than at the door. The grounds around the venue are fun to let the kiddos roam a bit to get their wiggles out.
Starlight is a Kansas City classic. A beautiful outdoor venue with clean site lines and good sound. I've seen concerts, Broadway shows, magicians, variety shows and all have been enhanced by the unique atmosphere. My first trip to Starlight was 40 years ago and most recent was last week - they've done a great job of keeping the facility clean, well repaired and up to date. On our most recent visit we got the buffet beforehand. It was good but not spectacular and the conditions were rather hot. I'd only recommend if the weather is cooperative. Pro tip seats a bit further back and higher up catch the breeze and can be more comfortable if the weather is hot.
Visited several times this season with loved ones. Everytime has been great. Parking easy and efficient. Leaving after show fast even when staying til end. Employees knowledgeable and friendly. Great place to see shows
Amazing venue. The drinks are like ball park priced...but definitely a great place to see one if your favorite bands or Broadway shows.
It is rare to go to such a major venue and the women's restrooms are so maintained and accessible. There are so many stalls there's almost never a wait! Besides all that, the grounds are very well maintained and there are a large variety of food and drink options. I love coming to Starlight Theatre, they book a lot of relevant and exciting concerts and performances. I'm always thrilled to visit and know I'll enjoy my experience no matter who or what is playing.
Friendly staff. Nice spacious bathrooms located both sides of stairs. Different food and drink options. Example: classic bar food; pretzels, nachos, drinks, lemonade, beer, cocktails. Also dippin-dots! Grass or paved parking lot. Convenient Uber/drop off located at the top of the venue. Cool VIP area and upgrades. Lots of great seating options. Of course closer will b more expensive and farther away less expensive.
First time at Starlight, what an exceptional venue! What a great evening! The seats are great, the views are great, the concessions were good and not even too outrageously priced. The drive out after the show was even smooth, easy, and quick.
My favorite venue in Kansas City! Love that it’s indoor/outdoor. I wish every performer would come here. Seeing Alicia keys perform here was so iconic. Will always have love for starlight theater!!
The weather was perfect for seeing The Waitress! I could see it might be unbelievably hot at different times of the year but im sure they combat that somehow. It wasn't packed and concessions moved quickly and efficiently- with great food choices. The bathrooms were everywhere with many stalls and clean! PLUS getting out of the parking lot was so smooth and seamless. They had enough workers everywhere and I appreciate that! As a bigger person when the seat I was in was getting uncomfortable I had no problem finding a section with a comfortable chair to accommodate me- and i could see the screens and stage and hear everything clearly wherever I was. I'm from Wisconsin and this is a nice venue I'll look forward to seeing something here again.
