Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes.

For over 80 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for steakburger. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business.

Today, Steak 'n Shake remains the “better burger” leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. I took my grandchildren, 2 teens and 1 preteen for lunch. We had fast, friendly, efficient service and really well-prepared food. Any discrepancies were remedied on the spot. Add to that the coupons were WELCOMED! We had such a great time together at Jefferson City Missouri's Steak and Shake.  Parking: Easy in and out.  Kid-friendliness: Gave the whole table pictures and crayons. Happily replaced a Dressed burger with ketchup only.

I have ordered food for pickup twice from this location since they have had the staffing they need to be open past 5pm.  I am SO GLAD that they are able to do this again!  Steak n Shake is one of my favorite restaurants when I am in the mood for a burger and this location has served up the best meals that I have had from any other Steak n Shake in the last few years.  I see them disappearing from other cities and am very happy to know that ours will continue to stay open!  The new manager is kind, and clearly cares about his employees and the business itself.  This is the best quality of food, service, and customer satisfaction I have had in a long time.  I am blown away by this location and the people behind it!

The manager, Curtis is rude and unprofessional. The restaurant is not welcoming and the service is slow. Don’t ask for a refund if they mess your order up even when the order is repeated back. Curtis clowned and acted a fool because they messed my order up.  I had to wait an additional 18 minutes and requested a refund. He wouldn’t honor the $5.44 refund. Ridiculous.

I love steak burgers. I used to work at a SnS when I was much younger so I know how they're made and I haven't ever been disappointed in a meal I've gotten at this location. Service is always amazing. The lower star for atmosphere is because we use the drive through only.

During our recent visit to Steak and Shake, my daughter and I found ourselves with some spare time before an appointment. Although she wasn't particularly hungry, she had a craving for a refreshing milkshake, especially on that scorching 90° day. Opting to dine in, our intention was to order our two shakes and enjoy them within the establishment. However, our experience took an unfortunate turn when we stood by the entrance for approximately 10-12 minutes, patiently waiting to be seated.  Considering that it was around 2pm and the lunch rush had subsided, the restaurant was only moderately busy. After the initial 5 minutes of waiting, an employee acknowledged our presence and assured us that she would attend to us shortly. However, for the subsequent 5+ minutes, she seemed preoccupied with processing and delivering orders, indicating that the establishment was understaffed. Regrettably, due to the prolonged wait without any assistance, we made the disappointing decision to leave without being seated.  This experience left us feeling dissatisfied and disheartened, as we had hoped for a pleasant Daddy/Daughter milkshake break before a stressful medical appointment.

Was seated and gotten our drinks and orders taken right away.  Server was great, came and checked on us about refills etc several times. Food was received quickly and was delicious! All around a great experience for people in fromout of town for a convention.Food: 5/5

I enjoy Steak 'n Shake in different states better than I did this location but can't complain as the prices are reasonable and food taste above average.  Service was mediocre but our waitress was pleasant. Can't go wrong with any of their burgers and fries. The chili was okay.  Then there's the shakes which are made the old fashion way.

I never have a positive experience at a Steak N Shake, but I'm a sucker for those steak burgers and milkshakes.  However, the location in Jefferson City, MO was on point, even more so given that we dined in about an hour before they closed.  Server was attentive and friendly. Food was served quickly, and it absolutely blew my expectations from past SnS experiences.  Keep up the good work, Jeff City Steak n Shake!

Nothing goes together better than a steak burger and a shake.  This Steak n Shake location had great service, they were really great to the kids with our group, they loved the paper hats and kid craft project they passed out.  The food came fast, our crew enjoyed it all.  The waitress was attentive and kind.

Server was the only part that was good about this place, but did get the order wrong. Burgers are worse than mcD. Hard like jerky and paper thin. Long wait on food didn't make sense when only 5 tables in there and one had to wait 20 minutes after they were sat just to order.Food: 1/5
