Description

Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak ‘n Shake’s founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes. The Steak 'n Shake name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for STEAKBURGER. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. To prove his point that his burgers were exceptionally prime, he would wheel in a barrel of steaks (including round, sirloin, and T-bones) and grind the meat into burgers right in front of the guests. Hence arose the origin of our famous slogan, “In Sight It Must Be Right.” After 79 years, we are continuing Steak n Shake’s tradition of serving the country’s best, freshest, and tastiest burgers and shakes.

I tried to have lunch here. I used the self order kiosk. And then waited. It wasn't busy at all. There were no other customers inside except two that already had their food. All the employees were hiding in the back. 10 minutes later, no one had even started making my food. I waited another 5 minutes. Still no employees at the counter or at the grill. I had to yell to the back of the store to get anyone's attention to come give me a refund. And that took several minutes. Terrible service.
Place was empty and we had questions and no one came to check on us or take our order. They knew we were there cuz there was an employee just looking at us making us feel uncomfortable. Won't be back Dietary restrictions: Good luck getting seated
I would give Zero if possible just because the ladies there are completely miserable and lazy. I pulled up to the drive thru at 9:38 and another car was ahead of me. The screen was off and we saw 2 women in uniform through the windows in the front of the building, cleaning up. So after a few minutes we went ahead to the window and they had put something blocking it. I honked and got ones attention and she shrugged her shoulders and said they were closed and I should have came earlier instead of waiting until last minute. Damn I'm sorry that you decided to close 25-30 minutes early instead of staying open until your scheduled time and probably lost at least $100 in that short time. I had over $60 on my order and by the time we pulled off there were 3 cars behind us plus the original in front. I usually spend a couple hundred dollars a month here at this location and I can guarantee that I will never spend another cent. Get your stuff together. If you can't handle working until 10 then get a different job or change the hours. People are just sorry excuses for humans nowadays.
We come to this location weekly. There is only ever a small crew working but they do the best they can. They are pleasant to deal with and it just takes a little extra time to get your order. The order is always correct, hot and fresh!Food: 5/5
If I could rate it zero I would as I haven't received food, a refund, an apology, or any response from management. I came to this location after ordering on the app. We arrived at 8:30. The app stated that they close at 10. Our card was charged on the app and the place was closed. The employee stated that they saw the charges in the morning but didn't issue us a refund and said it wasn't their problem. I will never eat at another Steak and Shake again.
Steak and shake really went to trash in the last few years and the one in roseland has to be the worst. Service sucks. You never know if the lobby is open or not and the people working are usually rude. Nothing is ever clean. I worked at this one years back because they closed the ireland road location. During that time there was always fights with the staff and a territorial aspect. I see it hasn’t gotten any better since and is a lot worse and trashier. They should have left the ireland location and demolished this one.
Girl was outside talking so we had to circle and go to drive thru a second time. I had her check our food for accuracy and she said everything was there... we were missing 2 sandwiches and I didn't want to wait another 15 mins to gave them made. We live 45 mins from here so I wasn't going to call to have them replaced.Food: 1/5
Steak and Shake has gone to kiosk ordering, but the kiosks don’t accept gift cards. So, after taking 10 minutes to type our order in, the kiosk refused payment, kicked us off, and told me to order at the counter. Instead, I gave my gift card to the person behind us and left. I won’t be needing it because I have no intention of going back to any Steak and Shake.
****Not sure why it says I visited two days ago.. I was across the street at the bank atm and at the light in front of it.. but not at it. **************BUT************** I have been there previously, when I was, ******It was food, not the greatest but def not the worst, N if u can actually catch them open atleast later in the evening, the people who work or worked there were not rude but were very attentive at helping me pick up my mobile order. So def plusunlike some places So.. all in all, if ur 2nd guessing it..just do it.. its a tad more expensive than it used to be sadly for the product put out in my own opinion but I promise it won't be the worst thing uve ever eaten and def won't be the greatest. So "no pain no gain" as they say? Or "u'll never kno until u try" maybe? -good luck! GOD BLESS
I could not pull off this lot after eating my dinner and giving this specific location an outstanding review. The food I had was so fresh I’ve never seen veggies on a burger so fresh ! The burger was so fresh , condiments weren’t sloppy. Thank you guys so much.
