If you're interested in a Roland digital piano, Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee is an excellent place to make your purchase. The short version: We found exactly what we were looking for at Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee. Prior to our visit to the gallery, we contacted Barbara via email and made arrangements to try a specific instrument. Barbara was knowledgeable, professional and personable. We enjoy doing business with music industry professionals like Barbara who have a multi-faceted body of knowledge regarding a wide range of musical styles and who understand specific criteria of musicians. The long version: As former educators and now professional country/blues/jazz musicians, we love playing accoustic grand pianos but also appreciate and enjoy the versatilty of portable digital pianos. When compared to other brands available, the Roland digital pianos we regularly use have phenomenal realistic piano sounds that have unmatched keyboard action and a wide range of dynamics assigned to each individual piano key. A testimony to the quality of Roland digital pianos is these instruments are available for purchase at Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee where Steinway pianos, one of the finest pianos in the world, are the main feature. Though we already own a fantastic Roland stage piano, we wanted to find a different portable Roland keyboard that weighs less and is suitable for studio recordings. With these criteria in mind, we wanted to try out a Roland FP-30X before buying. At Steinway Gallery of Milwaukee we were able to play the Roland FP-30X in a quiet environment that allowed us to assess the features and qualities that are most important to us. When buying musical instruments, we value the opportunity to do so in an environment that is free of loud distractions e.g. certain well-known chain music stores habitually play loud recorded music over their sound system while various customers attempt to play guitars, drums, and synthesizers, which creates an unpleasant cacophony of noise and makes it impossible to properly assess an instrument. We found the showroom at Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee a pleasant space to assess an instrument. The showroom is lovely, elegant and unpretentious. It's spacious and well-lit with natural sunlight. The instruments, with gorgeous Steinway pianos front and center, are artfully displayed and arranged in an accessible manner. Barbara was attentive to our needs during our time at the showroom and answered all of our questions. When we told her we would like to purchase the keyboard, she facilitated the sale efficiently. Though our entire time at Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee was about 40 minutes long, we accomplished more in that 40 minutes with Barbara than we have at many other music stores. She was respectful of our time and neither rushed us nor delayed us. Once our transaction was complete, she assisted us in loading the instrument into our vehicle. The thoughtful functionality of the showroom along with Barbara's knowledgeable, personable, and efficient assistance, allowed us to make a purchase in which we are exceptionally pleased.
I drove from Madison to buy a digital Roland piano, because my local store didn’t have the model I wanted. The lady was very friendly. She gave me space to play the digital models, and make a decision. Once I swiped my credit card, she couldn’t wait to see me out. I just wanted to play the grand piano for a few minutes. I felt deeply disappointed and sad that all she cared for was the sale and not sharing the love for music and allowing a beginner like me to have the experience of playing a Steinway. Either she is a very poor salesman or I might have had a different experience if I didn’t walk in with brown skin. Either way, I will not be returning here when I upgrade to my next piano. I will stick to my friendly Madison store or go to Chicago for my piano needs. Update: I read the lady’s response to my review. I cannot believe people are still claiming, just because they have a brown/Black child or a friend, they cannot have bias. I see no introspection or curiosity of her own behavior that caused my bad experience, just fragility and defense. I wonder how much harm is being causally caused with this attitude. Whatever, her personal bias or growth is not my problemexpect for the money I spent on this business, which I regret.
The sale person was somewhat rude and we felt he was condescending. We came in wanting to learn about options and were hoping for suggestions and a tour of options available. Unfortunately, we were more of a nuisance to him and he could care less about earning our business. I suppose Steinways sell themselves, the products are nice and they do have an excellent selection. If you go to Steinway, you need to go there ready to purchase knowing what you want to buy. We asked for suggestions and he told us that was too difficult - not a very good response. Fortunately for us we went to a competitor who were much more eager to earn our business. They spent over an hour going over the options available and a detailed description of what things meant, quality, utility....even basic like upright vs grand piano. It was very informative and educational. We bought a brand new piano from them, two hours after leaving Steinway.
This is a long review but I wanted to explain exactly what happened and why I am giving only one star. My husband and I came to this location on 6/19/19 at 3:00p.m. looking for advice on purchasing a used piano. I wish I could say we had a great experience but what ended up happening was disappointing and disheartening. When we first entered the building the salesman he didn’t give his name came up to us all smiles and happy to answer any questions. I asked if I could get his advice on an upright Steinway 1098, he proceeded to lead my husband and me to a 1098 they had on the floor and gave me the price. I commented on the beauty of the piece and he seemed happy about that but as soon as I asked him what he thought the price on the same model used but in good condition would be he instantly dropped his smile and pleasant demeanor. He asked where I would be purchasing this piano and I explained it was from a school which apparently was not the answer he was looking for. I said it was all we could afford at the moment and that the school was offering 0% interest financing and that I would gladly buy from them if they could do that or something similar but he cut me off before I could finish and snapped at me saying they don’t offer any financing whatsoever. I started speaking again trying to explain that if the school didn’t give a decent offer and if the piano wasn’t in good condition we would stretch our budget a bit and buy from them but before I could say the second word of the sentence he cut me off again and snapped “they won’t do anything for you.” I said well, the 0% interest is something nice which in return he cut me off again and repeated the same thing. I honestly couldn’t even say anything back. I was in complete shock by his unprofessional behavior. When I asked if he could help me with any information on what a used piano would cost he smirked and said “No, I won’t. You think I’m going to give you advice just so you can go down the street and buy from someone else?” with that I told him thank you for his time and turned and walked out. He didn’t even say have a good day or anything. As I stated before I would have come back to purchase a piano from this establishment, if not now at least some time in the future. But because of the way we were treated I will not be coming back. Some advice to the salesman we worked with: A little kindness goes a long way. Don’t give professional advice if you don’t want to but at least treat your customers well and they will come back.
This is where I go to meet my piano instructor for lessons. It's a very well lit and well-kept store. It's very nice and clean and if you're looking to learn about pianos or music than this is definitely the place to go.
Really good place to look at pianos. The atmosphere in here is really nice, and they even have a broken down piano mechanism so you can see exactly how they work! They have uprights, baby grands, and other styles of pianos. They also have a music hall you can rent, which is how I found out about this place; from a piano recital.
Every employee happily walks you through the store and explains the difference between the pianos, why they sound that way, etc. Extremely informative and I love coming here. They also have a fantastic selection of books of pieces but many composers.
Twice monthly they have concerts here. I have been to 2 of them and enjoyed them immensely! Free with a $5 requested donation. They are at noon and last an hour. Give it a try if you love music!
Beautiful pianos. Very helpful. And they have hard to find Roland FP 30x in stock!!!
The Steinway Piano Gallery is an elegant show-room with the best selection of Steinway and Roland pianos. They also carry sheet music and other music accessaries.
