I happened to be invited along for an appointment by a close friend, who was considering a used model for purchase, and I was absolutely pleasantly surprised by Benjamin, who was managing the store that day. He was so resourceful and enthusiastic, and it fueled our excitement even more-- not to mention that his own love for pianos and music really came through. Benjamin was so kind enough to let us try out and play several different Steinway pianos and concert grands in the show room, and though I was not the one who walked out with a Steinway certificate that day, I would absolutely come back in the future when I'm ready for one. Thank you Benjamin for the wonderful experience!
Any pianist knows that owning a Steinway is a dream. I, unfortunately, cannot afford a Steinway, but I went to take a look at the used models they had downstairs. Benjamin was an ABSOLUTE GEM, coming through with all the support, enthusiasm, and knowledge that you could ask for in an appointment. It's rare to find a "salesperson" nowadays that shares the same level of enthusiasm, who doesn't just treat the pianos like their next paycheck. He was also so kind to let us try out the Steinway concert grands and other models, and I will absolutely come back in the future when I'm ready for an upgrade hopefully to a Steinway... fingers crossed!
I have bought and rented pianos here and they are spectacular. The managers are great and my favorite person is Danielle, who is very lovely and extremely responsive. I highly recommend Steinway Piano Gallery for any pianos in SF!
I was a little worried about coming here to look for a piano as I didn't have a large budget, or even much space for a piano. Someone else also mentioned you can only play for 10 minutes, but the staff was warm and welcoming. They get a lot of tourists/convention attendees at least 3 while I was there so they do ask for no practicing, but encouraged trying out the pianos. It was a much larger space than I expected from the outside. Since I was looking at possibly buying a piano for my home locally they didn't give me any time limits playing but answered questions and helped guide me. I had a great experience, and eventually after my visit and some emails back and forth I did purchase a piano that fit my needs and budget. Looking forward to trading up in the future!
These are the best pianos ever made. Btw, Carnegie Hall has a Steinway and Sons piano as well. I also like the personal working there and the atmosphere. They also have festivals, competitions and concerts at this gallery every month.
Great pianos ever. And the new manager is awesome.. he even created his own piano
Be very aware that this shop is closed and locked up before making the journey here. No staff to be seen.
One of the best piano dealers for the Steinway Pianos in the Bay Area. Lots of pianos for selections!
Got here to find it was closed. Using Covid as an excuse to keep the door locked. Be warned.
