Great doctor,would recommend him to anyone .Explained thoroughly what was going on with my knee,took care of it prescribed medication that work with meds I am currently taking .Office staff very personable thorough and genuinely concerned. A lot of my customers have visited Dr Whitfield and had replacements and different treatments and procedures performed and have nothing but good to say . He is a Craftsman at his trade he also seems to enjoy helping people. Thank you dr. Stephen Whitfield.
Dr Whitfield did an excellent job replacing my left knee joint. I was out of Oak Hill hospital in 2 days. I give Dr Whitfield’s surgery & the hospital care I received 5 star but after that I can’t give the care I received even one star. I was sent home with NO prescriptions what so ever! NO pain meds! I have stomach problems that prevent me from taking ibuprofen or naproxen so all I could take was Tylenol! I called the hospital & they told me it was Dr. Whitfield’s responsibility. I called Dr. Whitfield’s office & they told me that he doesn’t write prescriptions for opioids. A month later I saw Dr. Partel? at Dr Whitfield’s office & he said he’d write me a prescription for opioids then. I refused & told him that he was a little to late! Dr. Whitfield is an excellent doctor but when it comes to taking care of his patients after surgery I’d look somewhere else. I did! I had my left shoulder replaced & Dr. Branson did an excellent job. He sent me home with a weeks worth of opioids to take care of my pain too!
My father goes here and he is getting ready to have his second hip replacement. He had his first one in 2016. Dr. Whitfield is amazing at what he does! He and his staff are friendly and go above and beyond for thier patients. Post op and pre op Dr. Whitfield took great care of him. My father's recovery time was quick and he has had absolutely no trouble with his hip since the replacement.
I had an appointment in October and found out I have osteoarthritis in my hip and will need a hip replacement but, doctor said I need to lose weight first. He said he could give me a steroid shot which will be set up at Raleigh General. I called his scheduler who only said she's waiting for the doctor to tell her when he can do it. It is now July - 9 months later and I'm still in a lot of pain. He wants your credit/debit card so he can take your money but, he was condescending and has no compassion or empathy for his patients whatsoever! I would never recommend Dr Whitfield to anyone ever!!!!
My experience was wonderful with Dr. Whitfield. Great Doctor. Had surgery and everything went perfectly. But, his office staff is terrible. Could not get my forms faxed to my insurance. She wouldn’t except a fax from them. Had to hand Carrie all correspondence. Took them twice and still not received. When I call to ask her she wanted to charge me $50 for her not doing her job. I have never had problems before.
I had LTKR on April 19, 2021 after having to put it off for 9 years. Dr. Whitfield and his staff were so helpful and considerate of my age, needs, and physical condition. He stayed on top of things while I was in hospital and swing bed therapy. I fully recommend Dr. Whitfield and am thankful for a successful surgery.
Very professional. Everyone is also very kind and friendly, and they work diligently to keep wait time as short as possible. These are excellent doctors, and health care workers, and they are very good at explaining everything so that you can understand exactly what they feel is the best way to proceed in taking care of you so that your quality of care and life is excellent. The only complaint is trying to get ahold of them by phone during office hours, however, the are excellent doctors, and they have a very large patient load so even that is somewhat understandable.
Dr. Whitfield did carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand in Oct. 2014 and a total knee replacement of the right knee in Nov. 2014. In my opinion, he is an excellent Doctor and I was amazed to find this level of medical care in this little town. He is currently treating my left knee with injections and when it becomes necessary I will let him replace it. In addition, he will do carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand in July.
Initial appointment fine, Dr is very nice. Making me an appointment for MRI to procede. Was told reports take a week should hear back in two weeks. Called in three weeks, was told they would call me back. Never did. Called back in four weeks, sat on hold for twenty five minutes waiting to speek to lady. Frustration, canceled it all. Find another doctor who is more concerned about health rather than money! They require a credit card to be on file as well, which is unethical according to PCI complience people. You can't give a zero star review!
Horrible! They overbook and expect patients to wait for an hour or so just so they can schedule more patients and make more money. After waiting an hour for my appointment, I had to leave to go back to work, so I asked them if it was normal to run this far behind, and there was no apology, they said, "It just depends, sometimes we do and sometimes we don't". I would never support a business that has such little regard for it's customers time. My time is too valuable to wait and wait and wait...
