It is a really nice camp. My daughter has been coming for years and loves it.
First, if you want your kids to truely be unplugged, choose GStop camp. No electric in the cabins but there is a nice gusty breeze year round or when we go. Second, for the same price as some babysitting service that is only there 9 to 1 during the summer... summer camp builds integrity, stamina, problem solving and so many more skills than at home. Kids based on their readiness can enjoy all ages of fun as a camper. From just enjoying summer camp to horse back riding to high adventures and counselor in training... its ok to be a girl... its ok to have fun. Third.... no matter the personality type the kids remember songs... skits... cooking... family style dining... and the always an adventure grateful to go home & clean their own... bath house... oh the horrors mom! Yet i noticed she's keeping it cleaner at home without me asking... score! Every night is an adventure. The only draw back is camp food. I mean its fine for the kids, nothing gourmet, and mostly nutritious.... you wont end up winning the picky eater battle here but you can count on them being too hungry to care. Some units walk a mile to the dining hall all three meals each day. I was sure my kids would come home skinny but nope they had camp provided snacks...kid foods. This little gem is about an hour south of dallas & fort worth. Totally worth the drive and out of state families send their kids here too so we didnt feel bad being from another council. The summers are very hot in Texas but for old school fun this is a gem most girls will enjoy. For moms who dont like to camp in the woods, this is a great way to help her feel confident no matter how the outdoor adventures may be. They sell out fast here since its a full 5 nights. No canteen so get your mail in on day one. Staff is pretty good and all the registration is online so checkin & check out are super fast. In years past it was 2 to 3 hrs waits in 100 degrees. Add an extra day and take a ride down the brazos river & fossil rim wild life safari. If this is all she does for the summer she will remember it fondly!
My daughter loves camp here.
The only thing that bothered me about this place was that the bathrooms stink. There's probably a plumbing issue, because all weekend, the bathrooms smelled like poop even with the bathroom doors closed. Beside the smell, I slept throughout the night. No bad dreams or scary vibes. I did wished that there was a sofa or couch to sit on. This is a great place to visit.
I love stevens ranch! It is perfect for girls wanting to learn the girl scout way and learn songs to sing. The only thing is that it is extremely hot and you could get dehidrated easily. The have chances to do horseback riding, craft camps, and swimming.
I come here for Girl Scouts every year and it's fun but some of the counsellors are really rude other than that the food is great and it's an awesome camp but some of the cabin are too far in the back of camp
Not crazy about the place. My daughters cabin had no electricity or heat and for a 23* night. And toilets were backed up the whole weekend. Maintenance much? Apparently not.
Our daughter and granddaughter went to this camp and they loved it. They can't to go back next year
It was my first time visiting and I had gone to pick up a family member from the camp and the owner was soo rude, he said many hurtful things instead of being welcoming never going back such a bad experience.
I visited that place and it is super nice and fun I recommend it, you will have a lot of fun
