Alisha and Phillip Hoke, Low Moor, VA This is our choice of campgrounds. Family friendly, quiet, great amenities, everything you need at your fingertips, honestly we feel like family when we are here several times out of the year. Highly recommended huge, clean and beautiful campsites as well as shower houses and beach. Great fishing for the men and awesome entertainment, not to mention Bingo for the family and multiple kid activities on the weekends. Never disappointed!! Always WELCOMED!!
My family loves this campground and needed a place to unwind and just relax. Lots of things for the family to do from fishing, swimming, mini golf, concerts and karaoke in addition to cornhole tournaments. The sites and restroom are clean, restaurant and entertainment are exceptional. Love that we know so many there that we don’t see often and those that we don’t know are friendly. Staff is informative and friendly. Love the fact of limited internet and no cable TV. This will become our home away from home.
Went for the bluegrass festival. Music was very good, great shaded area for the music as well. The food was average at best. Fries were good but the Buffalo chicken sandwich amd the BBq sandwich were both so soggy and messy when we got them they went in the trash. The bread was sopping wet , it was awful. Campground was large and pretty nice however if you are one that likes to keep your truck and camper clean like I do just be forewarned this is by far the worst place I ever seen for dust. The road needs calcium or something to help with that because it is horrible. They are installing a miniature golf course but it's not completed yet. Very nice pond with a dock. The only complaint about the festival was they don't allow people to jam very long. I been going to festivals since a child and people always get together and jam all night after the bands play. Here the owner will shut you down very quickly as he did us. My suggestion would be to reserve the lower section for the festival people and those that want to camp without the festival have them up top so not to disturb them with the music. Overall it's a good place and close enough to stores if you need anything.
We pulled in late to Stoney Creek, with just a bit of daylight left. We checked in late at the general store, and backed into our site 48. Roads are wide and flat gravel. The campground is well-maintained and the staff are friendly. They have a well-stocked store and a big event hall for dining and relaxing. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area.
We had the nicest time this past weekend. This place really pulls out the stops for Halloween. They had a haunted trail maze my older kids did twice. Lots of campsites decorated for the trick or treat. Nice large sites. Nice little store w good prices for cafe food. The only thing I'd like to see is lower bathrooms/shower houses need an upgrade. Pool would be nice too, but they have a nice swimming lake and beach, so not needed.
Made this our “maiden voyage destination” for our new camper and we weren’t disappointed. It’s only about 4 miles from our house by design — wanted to be close to home if something breaks on the new camper, but it was a fantastic trip. The few fellow campers that were with us were very friendly, the staff were very friendly and the grounds were fairly well maintained. We liked it enough to book Memorial Day weekend and are thoroughly looking forward to that stay. Our spot was very close to the lake and we were next to a stream as well. Very easy to back into and very level — we were unhitched, hooked up and ready to go in about 15 minutes.
Very peaceful and secluded area with a small lake. Lots of trees. Sites are built between the trees, so they may be difficult to access. My site was not very level. Utilities work fine, but wifi didn't work at all and my cell signal was not super strong. Price might be on the high side when considering a few of the disadvantages...but I sure got a pleasant night's sleep here.
Here now and enjoying the campground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The campground is a busy campground, which I don’t mind personally. I like quiet and laid back and I like busy, so it doesn’t bother me that there are golf carts running around throughout the day and evening. I will note that the campground grounds are well maintained and pretty nice but the facilities are mostly outdated. The restroom and shower facilities need some serious updating. There were doors on the stalls that didn’t have a lock or if they did, it didn’t work. Some had knobs but didn’t have a lock. They were poorly lit and fairly dark on the inside. And the most interesting concern is the pattern throughout all the bathrooms at the campground where the toilets in the stalls were directly in front of the doors. Not a lot of room to really maneuver…sitting down is a challenge…more of a squat than a sit …and the door to the stall is all up in your grill don’t hate for the bathroom review, we all do it. As far as the complaints about the confederate flags and the permanent sites…whatever…I wasn’t chased around the campground by rednecks toting muskets and hand-loaded long guns. People will always find something to whine about or be offended by. Overall I enjoyed the campground and the experience.
Stayed a long weekend 3 nights last week. The park is so big! We rented a golf cart, which was very clean and well maintained, and was able to see the whole park. That would be tough to do on foot. We stayed in site #15 with a 38 foot fifth wheel. We had plenty of room to park our tow vehicle and another car, and our "front yard" was nice and roomy. Site was gravel and we had very little dirt inside the camper even after a rain shower...no mud. It was a bit odd that so many seasonal sites were mixed in with weekend sites but most were well maintained and the people we encountered were very nice and respectful. The store is very well stocked...milk, eggs, even bacon...soft drinks, beer, wine, all of the necessary food staples and lots more. If you forgot something chances are they have it in stock. Our can opener broke and they had several. The pool is big compared to most campgrounds pools we've seen, with lots of lounge chairs available. The lake is beautiful with a nice beach area and again...lots of lounge chairs. Our site had alot of shade. The roadways were about what you'd expect... adequately maintained with some areas needing a little work. It got a bit loud and chaotic around the playground/pool area the night the band was there but that's to be expected. If you don't like it you go back to your site. Overall a fantastic first experience here and we plan to go back later this summer.
This is the cleanest and friendliest family campground I’ve ever seen. Had a great time over the weekend. Family friendly, store, and small restaurant on site. Tent camped right by a small stream with a view of the lake. 20 minutes to the parkway and skyline drive. We will stay here again.
