Storm Rhum Bar and Bistro

About

Storm Rhum Bar & Bistro is a unique dining and bar experience offering an exceptional new-world approach to classic food and drink.

Description

Storm is where the artistic and adventurous gather, engage and revel. At Storm, we believe that the most interesting places – whether in some exotic corner of the world or right in your own backyard – can inspire creativity, imagination and ideas. Places with an authentically original style, draw the most intriguing people, stimulate lively conversation and become a backdrop for the unexpected.

Storm was created as a tucked away neighborhood gem. More of a restaurant than a bar, Chef Owen McGlynn sources all our produce and proteins from local, independent farmers. Much of the produce we buy supports local charities and organizations. Participating in numerous Blind Pig events, we try to work alongside our neighbors whenever we can. With one of the largest rum selections in North Carolina, there are endless options in our bar. Of course, we offer great local beers, various wines and classic cocktails as well. Storm offers a haven for industry guests late night after their shifts, a warm environment for visitors or intimate dates, and a great open patio for friends to gather around.

Every night at Storm is a reason to stop by. Join us for nightly specials, our famous Monday Burger and Beer night, half priced select wines on Tuesday, and $3 draft, well liquor and wines by the glass on Sunday.

You’ll often find live music on our outdoor patio. So grab a seat near the fire place, enjoy a cocktail and delicious meal, and gather with your friends at Storm.

Starting with the location in a corner. With a nice entrance to left. Host will welcome you reservations are recommended but not mandatory if your plans are flexible you might get lucky and get a space at the bar or one of the tables. We had the Valentine’s Special! Waitress was very sweet and kind. While waiting for our food we had a cocktail and a bourbon flight. We had a salad, salon with noodles and the second dish was a steak very tender. Lastly a Mexican chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream! It had a hint of spice.
Absolutely Fabulous! I have never had such a deliciously unique meal in my life. I ordered one of the rum flights to broaden my knowledge of different rums, followed by the brisket mexican pizza for my appetizer, which was excellent. For my main entree I am so glad that I ordered the pan roasted duck, the intricate flavor pairing in that dish was phenomenal. And even though I ate every crumb on my plate I couldn't pass up the peach and blackberry cobbler for dessert, which include a fresh house made I'm assuming cream on top. So good. The staff was amazing, the decor is wonderful, everything is top notch. Eat here. Vegetarian options: They had an eggplant parmesan on the menu using vegan mozzarella.
I had a meeting near by and noticed Rhum in the name. Hooked! Good thing I stopped as this is a top notch joint. Cocktails were excellent as was the food menu, ever evolving. I had the Elote Mac n Cheese, it was really, really good. Definitely will stop again when I'm back in town. Kitchen is open late until 1am.
The service was outstanding. Our server gave great advice when looking through the menu, the food and wine selection was great. The interior was aclectic and stunning. I had a great time and will be looking forward to coming back. One of the coolest things was the vending machine in the front that had different thrifted books and stickers. Very unique!
Absolutely fantastic. I never rate 5/5 on everything, but this place is a gem. They're one of the only places in asheville with a late night grill, so you can get off work late and get an actual burger - and its even a great burger! Somehow, they put mozzarella cheese on a PB&J type sandwich and made it work! The chili jam has a slight heat, and when you get to the cheese, you just have to take it all in for a moment. Their drinks are good and not too much filler or straight liquor, and they have their own recipe twists on classics that will keep you coming back. The atmosphere is lowkey, but look around, and you'll notice vintage decorations and oddball pieces that stand out, truly a gem.
Had dinner here with my wife and for our anniversary, and we loved it! When we were suddenly caught in the rain outside after we ordered, our waitress Taylor found a seat inside for us, allowing us to enjoy dinner without being soaked. We had the pickle plate and cheese plate for an appetizer, and they were both fantastic. We also had the Mai Tai to start and it brought back memories of Hawaii. For dinner, I had the NY strip and she had the duck with a waffle. Both meals were superb! The food, drinks, and service from Taylor and the other staff were all excellent. Highly recommend.
We have been coming to Storm for years. I once hosted a quarterly reading series, downtown, and after the series was over, we wanted to take the poets out for a casual meal, and ended up at the same places in Downtown over and over, and we felt fairly limited. The usual spots were open but usually completely crowded with tourists. Storm provided a respite for that, and seemed to be much more populated with locals, plus the late night menu is excellent! But what about lately? We have been to Storm a couple of times in the past month most recently a couple of days ago and the food is still excellent. We decided to go for a pre-theater date, just the two of us, and it was restaurant week, and I know everyone is showcasing special items for restaurant week, but the regular menu items were excellent as well. I had the pork shoulder chop, and I asked how it was cooked I make pork shoulder at home, and it just falls apart beautifully when I’m done and the server told me that it would be really falling apart, and cooked correctly, and she was not wrong. It was just so very tender. The chef really knows his way around that cut of meat. And the accompaniments with it were really special. There was true umami going on here. A little bit of sweetness apple garlic butter and pumpkin ale jus, some savory mustard greens and creamy smashed squash….just a delightful dish. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich; it featured a fried egg and hashbrowns. It was excellent. My only complaint is that our server was quite attentive at first, but then, as the evening progressed, it became difficult to find her, and we needed to be at the theater for a show. So we flagged her down for the check. After that, she seemed a bit annoyed. I hate flagging servers for a check, I feel impatient, but we really did have a show, and we had budgeted plenty of time for the meal. Parking: On street parking; on weekends, you may have to hunt around for a bit.
Service was incredibly slow. The server was very nice and did her best. There wasn't a lot of people or food coming out when we were there. We were there for almost an hour and finally got our food to go because we had to leave. We ordered a hot dog and Mac and cheese cupFood: 4/5
Their late night menu is a savior in a city with few late night options. The meatloaf sandwich was seriously incredible. Would definitely recommend for everyone to try.Food: 5/5
I have enjoyed this place since the first time I walked up to the bar and had an amazing rum cocktail. The food, although I haven't tried a lot of it, has been great when I have. And if rum isn't your thing they have a full selection of other liquor, wine, and beer.
