I have gone 8 days without a high level antidepressant because they are taking their time with doing paperwork for insurance. I am having withdrawal. I am currently in Intensive Outpatient because of depression and have been for a month. This has to be a joke!!!
Our daughter chose to come to your facility after reading your website, asking questions of your admission representative, and after the ER nurse also asked the same questions of your admission representative. We were all told, and read, that the services provided were individual, group and family oriented. We were assured, as was the ER nurse, these services would be provided over the weekend since she was being admitted Friday afternoon. She went to attend group therapy on Saturday and no one showed up to lead the sessions so she got no group therapy. She asked to see a counselor herself and was told that you don't provide individual therapy. When we were told she was going to be dismissed exactly 24 hours after we brought her, I spoke to the social worker and asked if we could meet before leaving with her and was told "that is not our policy to meet with family". I called to speak to the head of the hospital. He returned my call after 2 days. He told me that he would have the head nurse follow up and that they would review her file. I asked when it would be and he said three days. It has now been 7 and I still haven't received a follow up call. Very disappointed in this facility and the mental health assistance that they provided our daughter. I am so thankful she had a supportive system when she got home and got the help at a different facility, that was excellent by the way and very helpful. Sadly, I am sure there are numerous others who don't have the support and don't get follow up appointments scheduled or a call back from your facility to check in on them. After talking to three different medical providers and therapists, in different towns, it sounds as if our bad experience wasn't the first at this facility as they have all had clients who have the same story. Very disappointed and will definitely let others know of our experience.
I highly recommend SVBH. My Sibling was in the hospital numerous times in the last year in Kansas City for severe anxiety, depression & suicidal thoughts. Here they made medication changes and turned things around. Based on her gene test they got a medicine that turned things around. They have follow up appointments with a psychiatrist there and that helps a lot. I am so thankful to everyone that works there. Thank you to EVERYONE!
I have been their twice and to be honest it is a solid place good food, and they didn't prevent you from getting full you were always allowed seconds when I was there. I always had pain management and they never judged. The only things I didn't like was I couldn't smoke, but they did provide a patch to help. That was nice, and the other is some of the activities you get treated like a child in gym or art class. They had good staff, and they do treat you well. Thwy let you call you loved ones as much and as long as you want unless someone else needs the phone but that isn't a knock on them they try to be very fair. Ohi guess I have one more at night I couldn't sleep but I was for tols I had to stay in my room with the lights off. Couldn't even read a book without someone getting upset during checks but most were polite only a couple who put me down for my sleeping disorder. Overall they would still be my first choice if I needed to go back for help.
My Son was admitted earlier this year and we were both scared. He is Autistic and has been on many medications that failed to really help him until SVBH. They got his medications sorted out and spent time talking to him so that he knew what to expect. He's been to therapy, Psychiatrists and more than one provider. One short 3 day stay at SVBH made a huge difference. Their team helped my Son finally get the one on one care that he needed. His medications are now exactly suited to what he needs. He's had no thoughts of suicide and he's confident in his abilities to manage his anxiety, anger and stress. What more can a Mom ask for. I'm currently working on my own mental health struggles and can say based on our experience that if I need help, I will seek theirs. They know what they're doing!
Kimberly Byler needs to be fired. Tried to cold turkey stop someone off of a medicine that could be fatal by doing so. Do not schedule with her at all costs. A lot of other people here are also very unprofessional. They don’t call you back. They don’t try and help you when you need help. A lot of people here need to be reviewed. Pretty disgraceful to everybody out there struggling with serious mental health issues.
My wife was sent to this facility for a 24 hour period early October 2022. They did absolutely nothing for her. All of their “group sessions” and features they had listed for the people they are conning into going here do not exist. I asked the nurse that we had to request to see us when they dismissed her about it and she stated “Thats not our policy to do those things.” Its in your advertisements. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE.
I was admitted in summer 2020 for an attempt. During my stay there I was there 5 days. One of the nurses was extremely transphobic towards me, I was refused proper bandages for my arms and legs, forced to eat even though I mentioned I had extreme eating problems that make me extremely nauseous thinking about food. They never intervend when people mentioned triggering topics. I was refused my adhd meds for the first two days, even though I can't properly function without them. The anti suffocation blankets would cause my arms to bleed in my sleep causeing me to be triggerd at the sight of my own blood. It was not an inviting experience at all, some of my friends have had similar experience as I.
Not going to say to much. But if you need mental health care this is a good place to come to. I've only seen people treated with respect, compassion, and kindness. Privacy is very well controlled here. They do require a face mask still but have gotten rid of the temperature checks.
This facility is utterly terrifying. My wife and I are separating. She needs to be admitted. And while on the phone with admissions staff they asked to speak with me. I told them how dissatisfied I was with their services for the past 3 years and advised him how to improve. This guy who calls himself a behavioral health employee didn't know how to listen. He only wanted to talk or hang up on us. This goes against everything they learned in school. It puts lives in danger. It goes completely against everything they are there for. If they are so against doing the job they spent so much time and money to study then why are they there? Therapy is a must. Medication shouldn't be the "go to" but this place has mainly medicated my wife and from my experience working in an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility, not only was there too little therapy at this facility but too much medicating also took place for the entire time. Medication is often needed to stabilize the patient but should never be used as a long term treatment. Also, a great care must be used in deciding which medication would be best for each individual patient. This must be done without any outside influence. Including studies that show a drug to be "controversial". No medication should be avoided based on studies that were not conducted on the individual patient in question. With that said, I will add this, "STOP BEING LAZY AND STOO RECEIVING MONEY FROM PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES FOR PRESCRIBING THEIR DRUG. prescribe only medication that will help the patient. and provide therapy therapy therapy"! I will be seeking the loss of licensing from this facility. They ruined my marriage. Thanks idiots!
