Personal Fitness Training and Consulting
Personal Fitness Background:
Physical fitness has been an interest as well as a top priority in my life since a very young age. I entered the field of fitness by simply enrolling in sports activities. In doing this, I was able to develop a crucial understanding of the importance of being in good physical health. As I became older, the competition became much more difficult, and as a result, so did the training. I was involved in baseball as well as football, which exposed me to two extremely different workout routines. Football required an overall-strengthening program developed for power and agility. Focus on endurance played a major role as well. Baseball, on the other hand, required quick bursts of energy and elasticity of the muscles. There was less focus on power and more on speed, flexibility, & quickness. Because I took part in these training programs throughout my high school and collegiate athletic career, I was able to acquire a significant amount of knowledge with regard to physical fitness and the human body. As my knowledge increased, so did my interest.
Training Experience:
I have been involved in athletics for over 25 years and was fortunate enough to play baseball on a collegiate and semi-pro level. My involvement as an instructor vs. being a player has allowed me to clearly see the importance of maintaining a certain level of physical fitness in all walks of life. Within the past 10 years I have coached multiple baseball teams out of Winston-Salem, NC and Atlanta, GA. I’ve also run camps and training programs, and have spoken on fitness and scholastic athletics in public elementary schools. Upon receiving my degree from Elon University and earning my Personal Training Certification through AFAA, I worked as a strength trainer at the John Fowler YMCA in Norcross, GA. After a year had passed, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to in-home and corporate fitness training. I successfully founded and ran Streamline Fitness, LLC in this field for approximately 8 years, prior to moving back to North Carolina at the end of 2008, to later be hired to develop and effectively run what is now known as Athletic Republic Elite Personal Training. My most recent accomplishment was becoming a certified instructor with ISFTA. I now am able to certify those who aspire to be personal trainers and make an impact on the lives of others as I have. I have recently relocated back to Atlanta to redevelop and enhance Streamline Fitness and its services offered.
Training Philosophy:
Results do not appear out of thin air!!! Working towards, and maintaining a good physical fitness level takes hard work and dedication. When exercising, it’s extremely important to work past the fatigue factor. If you quit when you start breathing heavy, the results will be non-existent. I have learned many important things within the exercise field since becoming a part of it. One of the most important factors as a coach or trainer is to NEVER ask someone to do something you wouldn’t do, or haven’t already done yourself. Some exercises may seem much more difficult than others, and for this reason, you must push yourself beyond your normal expectations and fatigue factor. As your trainer/instructor, my duty is to guide you and give you the motivation necessary to accomplish your goals. Again…I would NEVER ask you to do anything I wouldn’t do or haven’t already done myself.
