Streamwood High School opened in 1978 with sophomore and junior classes and became a three-year campus in 1979. Starting with the 1982-83 school year, the school added the freshman class. Freshman had been previously housed at Tefft and Canton Junior High Schools. Streamwood High School serves Streamwood and parts of Bartlett, Hanover Park, Elgin and Schaumburg. The community of Streamwood was incorporate in 1957 and is located 35 miles northwest of Chicago.
