I have been going to Matilda since March 2020! The staff is always nice and inviting. Anything I get she kills. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere! I don’t let anyone else braid my hair since. She also has a scalp detox for ppl who has dandruff bad and it works wonders for my daughter hair!!! Go check her and her staff out. Oh and you get a wash and blow dry with your hairstyle. I Love it there and you will too!Service: Braids
This salon was really polite upon my greetings , my stylist was Matilda the owner , I went in for a silk press, the assistant shampooed me immediately, after being shampooed and blow dried I waited about 30 min before being styled which is normal in hair salons. My silk press lasted me about 2 weeks I will be returning soon. I recommend her for silk press and many other styles that’s offered.
Service Performed: Silk Press. I see there isn’t any recent reviews on this business and although I tried my best to research their latest work on clients & how the salon’s atmosphere may be through social media posts I wish I had a recent review to view before booking. Let me begin with the salon’s atmosphere & customer service because afterall that is the first impression and all one can judge until the service one is getting is completed. My daughter had an appointment for her first silk press to be done for picture day at school the next day. She was even picked up from school a little early so she can make it to her hair appointment. We arrived on time yet we had to wait an hour for a client that was already in the stylist/owner chair to finish getting his hair braided. Then we had to wait another hour for another client to get their hair pressed who I overheard the stylist/owner speaking to the client her friend on how that client didn’t even have an appointment, following those two clients we had to wait another hour while the stylist/owner installed a full glue in weave on another client. It felt like there was a clown car behind the wall that is separating the entrance and the waiting area from the stylists’ chairs because another client and another client and another client just kept popping up from behind that wall waiting to be finished by the stylist/owner. Mind you I was 9 months pregnant and the salon was dingy, dirty, covered with dust from the ceilings to the floor, outdated and infested with flys…huge flys! The waiting area chairs were very uncomfortable & gross to even want to sit on. They are regular banquet chairs covered with worn out dirty fur. If you research this business on social media you will see the owner post pictures & videos of suites for rent within the salon and they look very inviting and clean. You will also see that she posts videos of her work and if you are trying to get an idea on how the salon itself may look you may think the salon looks decent and clean from the background of her videos & pictures. Well truth be told she puts up a ring light & backdrop to market her services in the best view; very deceiving! As for the service completed; there was nothing silky nor pressed about my daughter’s hair after 4 hours of being in the salon with an appointment made. My daughter has 4C hair and this was her first time allowed to get her hair straightened; her first silk press. The stylist/owner did not recommend nor offer any additional services such as treatment or conditioning if that might have helped her silk press come out better. However, I truly believe my daughter’s hair was just not properly blowed dried because the person who dried her hair possibly the stylist’s assistant or another stylist prior to the assigned stylist she had an appointment with which was the owner had told my daughter she had too much hair and it was too thick so a sloppy job was done; leaving my daughters hair still damped and left to air dry while we waited for hours for her hair to be pressed. My daughter was initially excited to get her first silk press and yet this business ruined her experience. We would of been better off walking into a Dominican Salon and getting her straighten from them without an appointment made; being there as a walk in for 4 hours would of been much more understandable and they would of made sure her hair was dried and straightened by time we left out of there. Overall our experience was very disappointing. I wish I took pictures of all reviewed but I was so upset at the time to even think about leaving a review. I was being talked into staying by my husband on the phone whom I was venting to just so that our daughter can have her hair some what done for picture day the next day. The only reason why I am giving this business two stars instead of one is because I truly would love to see this black owned business be successful so I hope this review can be considered on the aspects they can improve.
With no edges and damaged hair, I was referred to Matilda to not only style my hair but to restore my hair back to its current healthy state. She has been my stylist for over 4 years and I am beyond happy with the results. Not only has she restored my hair, she has taught me how to care for my hair without the use of chemicals. Her team has always provided me with excellent customer service. -sheena
Matilda is a great stylist / perfectionist when it comes to time to slay. Amazing looks for adults and children. Plus there’s a barber shop for your one stop needs. The hair she sells is awesome quality as well. I recommend you book her ASAP.‍‍‍
Matilda was amazing. Excellent customer service skill and did my hair in a fast timely manner. Not to mention my my braids were exactly what I asked for and more which is hard to come across now . Will be back in the future.
Spectacular Customer Service. Fast Professional Work. Great Social atomsphere. These people made me feel like Family plus they allowed me in when I was actually late getting there. Straight Back Braids. Now I need security to keep the girls off me.
