Great experience! Love how intimate the venue is. Bartender crushed it. Really happy with the drink prices as well 3 shots they have malort and 3 cocktails for less than $60. Good sound quality and the bouncer and security were all very friendly and helpful.Service: 5/5
My best friend performed here with his band mates in Orphan Donor. Incredible atmosphere, three floors, great bar service, clean restrooms. I had never been to Chicago and this was absolutely the highlight of my trip.
The smallest venue that hosts the best music by far. It's so small that, with nowhere to go, the sound can be a bit intense, as well as muffled or distorted sometimes because of it. But, I've seen metal and hip-hop shows there. It's always a good time.Food: 4/5
Great bar for live music. Intimate setting. Main floor with stage lets you get close to see the bands. Upstairs provides a great view from above. Bars on both floors. Fun vibe.
This is my go-to place for alternative music and events. My favorite event is the Emo Nite they host every first Friday of the month. This Friday, 3OH3! Made a flash appearance on stage! The security is always making sure everyone is having a good time, and the DJs surely know how to hype up the crowd. The drinks are always great, and you can get themed merchandise to rock your next time going there! I seriously recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good time!
If one was to describe a venue in terms of the bands most likely to play there prior to their big break this would be ADTR, Fallout Boy, and Pearl Jam’s stomping ground. That said, all in all Subterranean is fun, lively, and energizing. Plus the types of people drawn to really bring out its full potential. The only callout resulting in -1 is that the acoustics could use an improvement or two. The sound quality diminishes the further you are from the stage, which is frustrating when your friend’s band is crushing it but not everyone gets to fully appreciate their talent. *btw that was an awesome set Matt, looking forward to your next show!
What a nice spot to see some bands play The building is old and has a great charm to it, the top floor is where they put the merch and small bar, second floor has the beer and the main is where the bands play. I love small venues like this and have wanted to see bands play here for many years so it was nice to finally make it to see a show. The acoustics sounded really good and I would love to make it back!
Very cramped going up and down the stairs especially after the show with everyone trying to buy merchandise. Bur the bar seemed clean and the concert was amazing. It's cool how u can watch from the third floor.
Just had a fantastic night. No issues upstairs and awesome vibes. Got to see Glass Beach, Oux, and Home is Where. The beer is is like $5 for a domestic tall boy and $8 for a draft of a solid semi local selection that I cannot complain about. The venue space is sick! 2 floors one over hanging the stage so it's viewable from several angles. Definitely a space I'd love to play in and certainly one where I'd be an audience member in. Instant 5 stars for having gender neutral bathrooms.
It is a bar but it’s got a cool lounge feel. I attended a live music event here and it was just the right size for the audience small but still spacious. The artist had some merchandise to sell and there was another booth there very neat. The bartender did a good job recreating a Paloma, I was very pleased. I would definitely visit again and suggest to check it out.
