Jennifer is amazing! She made our wedding cake in August 2022 and we could not be happier! She nailed it. The cake not only was beautiful but it was delicious. Our guests were raving at how much they enjoyed the cake. Highly recommend!
My daughter and I recently had a cake tasting at Sugar on Top Bake Shop. This shoppe is just so quaint, which you can see in the pictures I posted. Jennifer is sweet, and her cakes are absolutely delightful!! We sampled the Rumchata cake with cinnamon buttercream, lemon cake with raspberry buttercream, and champagne cake with strawberry buttercream. My daughter and I are not normally cake people....but oh my word, it was so hard to stop eating these cake slices to save some for my future son-in-law!!!! Jennifer did offer an extra slice to take home but we did contain ourselves . Wedding cake pricing here is a bit higher than other places 5.50 per slice as opposed to 3.50 per slice, but we decided Sugar on Top reviews speak volumes and so it is our bakery of choice to mark this beautiful occasion! I will update the review with comments from our guests.
"Best Tasting Cake Ever!!!!!!..." My husband and our guests loved it! We hardly had any left and just as we predicted the chocolate covered strawberries were perfect and a big hit! Jennifer really knows her stuff and she was so personable she made us feel like we were talking to family member. Talking about going above and beyond. We had 100 chocolate strawberries made and I was worried my guests would eat them all. And I wouldn't be able to enjoy any. So I asked for a little box of chocolate covered strawberries for just Chris and I to share. But I changed my mind because we were already trying to stretch the budget. Well guess what!? Jennifer gave us a wedding gift. A darling box stuffed full of beautiful chocolate covered strawberries! You would have thought she gave us a million dollars I was so excited! Did I mention I love strawberries! Also I loved her small town business, buy local, mentality. Did you know there's 3 bake shops in Genoa IL? Well they all have their own talents and each one makes something different. And instead of competing with each other they help each other. Jennifer makes beautiful cakes. Another shop makes cake pops and another makes donuts, cookies and danish! If Jennifer gets a call and they want a cake and let's say they ask for cake pops too. She tells them she doesn't make cake pops but the bakery down the street does. And they do the same for her. There's should be more people like Jennifer! I can't say enough how wonderful she is!
I am the owner of Moving N Grooving DJs and I just did an event with Sugar on Top and OMG! So Yummy. I had this strawberry cupcake...and I don't know what was it but the frosting was so delicious! She gave me some to take home to the kids and I may have ate 2 additional! Shhhhh I highly recommend!
Our son celebrated his 1st birthday on July 11. Our theme was based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The cakes were decorated beautifully, and the cost was very reasonable. We had a white cake and white icing. The cake was good and eaten in full within 24 hours. We are looking forward to using Sugar on Top Bake Shop again for our daughters' upcoming birthday.
We loved working with Jennifer for our wedding cake. The geode cake she created was what we had dreamed of. It tasted amazing too!
Jennifer was a dream to work with for our wedding! My now husband Jason and I had to make multiple changes due to COVID but Jennifer was ready to accommodate with each one! The cake and cookies were delicious, and we got so many compliments on both! We highly recommend her for any couples big day.
I loved working with Jennifer for our wedding! She was so accommodating and responsive, and made my vision come to life - and our cutting cake/cupcakes were SO DELICIOUS. She is truly fantastic and made our big day a breeze!
My husband met Jennifer at a Bridal Show while I was traveling for work. He was sent with a list of vendors to find, which included a baker. As soon as he tried a sample of the strawberry with champagne buttercream cupcake, he was sold. We loved working with Jennifer and Sugar on Top for our wedding. We enjoyed our sample cake so much that we actually ordered 25 extra cupcakes for the wedding so we would have leftovers. I highly recommend Sugar on Top bakery for anyone getting married, having a party, or just want a dessert to satisfy the sweet tooth! Thanks Jennifer for everything!
Just got the cutest 2020 dumpster fire cookies and they are delicious and make me smile! Jennifer is a true artist! She did my mothers 60th birthday cake and everyone still raves bout it! I highly recommend for everyday purchases and more importantly, for your most important events! Delicious and beautiful!
