I am not someone who typically leaves reviews but I just have to give this well deserved 5 star review to Barberton Summa Hospital! From the minute I walked into the ER the experience was so pleasant and professional. I was admitted right away, in a room within 10 minutes and made to feel very important and cared for. My nurse, Sheri, was Fantastic! I arrived at 11:30am, after some prompt testing and fast results I had a diagnosis by 2:30 and taken to surgery by 4:00. The anesthesiologist and surgical team were amazing! I was home and recovering by 6:30pm. Thank you so much!
Left my grandpa who is having breathing issues sitting in his own urine while in the er. Good job Barberton way to take care of your patients. The nurses said they didn’t have any pants they could give him? You guys don’t have gowns? You think it’s okay to let a 90 year old man sit in his urine? Do better.
Wow. Where do I start. I actually have a list at this point. - watched a patient come in with a known head injury, sit and sit and sit. No precedence for urgency. Could said person have an active brain bleed? Absolutely. But does anyone here in the "emergency room" have enough sense to realize that? Nope. But that's because "They've never dealt with COVID before as a hospital" And they are overloaded with patients. Well Pardon me, but...I'm pretty sure COVID has been a thing for going on 3 years now. So if your hospital can't properly triage true emergencies, you should close your doors. - Leaving patients who are vomiting, profusely, out in the waiting room. Which is not only a health concern for the other patients in the waiting room, but where is the decency for the patient? - HIPPA rights? What are those? Now we are wheeling our computers out to the waiting room to share information openly with every other person in the lobby. Not to mention - We have "ED Techs" who think it is there place to get an attitude and speak out of line to patients in front of the ENTIRE lobby. It's completely clear to me, that it is no longer about "Patient Care" it's about padding the pockets of the suits in charge.
I brought my wife to the emergency room because this is the hospital only three days prior she had her toes amputated on her right foot. When we arrived at the emergency room I asked if there would be a long wait and was told they can’t tell us that. My wife was vomiting and had severe pain from her amputated toes because she couldn’t take the pain med without vomiting. She is a type 1 diabetic and had sugar levels over 300 when we arrived which they never even checked once themselves. Even after all of this multiple people who arrived after us and with much less severe issues were seen ahead of her. Her medical record would clearly show a previous massive heart attack, coronary artery disease, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, multiple infections and not long ago a seizure from blood sugar being so far off. Still after these facts stare them in the face and not knowing for a fact what her sugar level was we waited over three hours to even be brought to a room. By the time pain and anti nausea meds were administered four hours had passed. She was in severe pain the entire time with several people in the waiting room commenting how the can’t believe they haven’t seen my wife yet. I asked when they came out to finally get her why she was neglected for so long and was told I would have the police called on me if “keep arguing”. I was never once argumentative with anyone. I simply asked why she wasn’t being seen and why were weren’t told it would be several hours before we would be seen as we would’ve sought care elsewhere has we known. I asked if they would tell the doctor she had high sugar levels and was diabetic and over an hour went by and no one checked her sugar or even looked in her direction. Clearly I will never come here again or bring anyone here. This place is about as unprofessional as it gets and will end up costing someone their life if they haven’t already. If someone needs medical care and you know full well it will be hours to care for them they should be informed. It is grossly irresponsible and dangerous to not inform them. Maybe they don’t have time to wait that long before their health deteriorates to the point of further injury or death.
My pet horse would make a better er doctor. The er doctor almost made my friend lose his eye. The er doctor definitely isn’t qualified for certain duties. My friends grandfather passed away because they misdiagnosed him despite the paramedics from the ambulance telling them he had a stroke. The place is a mess. I highly suggest getting more experienced doctors here.
Staff was friendly. I was called in quickly without a long wait. They have a really good informational class that covers just about everything u need to know for a hip or knee replacement.
HORRIBLE This disgusting place almost cost my Brother his life. They sent him home with his oxygen at 89, double pneumonia, and MRSA thank God he went to a different hospital after being released. I will stear everyone far away from this place smh
Got here at 7 am. Was told there are no empty rooms, hard to believe with an almost empty parking lot but didn't argue. Walk through to go to cafeteria and the majority of the rooms are empty with lights out. We've been in this little dirty corner for 5 hours while nothing is happening. I urge you to go to any other location.
If I could give less than one start I would. I lost my mother because of this hospital and their lack of care. Please take your loved ones else where. Update/Response: We have reached out about feedback and discussion but that went no where and was met with no liability. As I do not wish to be to public about personal information on reviews I don't want to say more but felt like others should be warned. I would still recommend anyone reading this to please go to a different hospital if you can.
Transported my adult son to the ER as it was not safe for him to drive. The nursing staff and NP we're pleasant and helpful,we were pleased with their quality of care. The ER doctor left a lot to be desired. He didn't check anything on my son. He didn't even look in his eyes even though this was a neurological issue. He had approx. 3 min to ask questions, that's it. Wonder what the over charge fee for that will be?
