Orlando After-School All-Stars
According to school officials in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, an estimated 11,000 children are considered homeless. They move frequently with their families – living in shelters, motels and cars ... even on the streets. Summer brings added instability to their lives – especially in Central Florida, where kids are more likely to be homeless than nearly anywhere else in the United States.
During these months, they have nowhere to go, nothing constructive to do and no access to resources like free/reduced lunch that help them while school is in session.
Summer of Dreams is a free program designed to provide food, supervision and engaging activities to homeless students in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, as well as financial counseling for their parents.
We are proud to say that we have served 5,573 children since 2011. No one was turned away – and every child who attended had a safe, positive environment where they could learn, play, dream and achieve.
