We were initially a little nervous on arrival. It's an interesting place.. Cons: The campground is much more run down than the pictures indicate, but you can tell it is in the process of renovation. Mostly long term or permanent sites with just a few short term sites. Bathhouse is seasonal only.closed during our visit which we did not know when booking. The trip across the bridge with our camper was a little nerve racking. No gravel so after lots of rain we were surrounded by mud puddle when stepping out of the camper. Steep entrance/exit. No one on-site for check-in:have to call and wait for arrival of an employee to take our paymentcash or check only Pros: We chose to stay and were pleasantly surprised at the quietness. Most of the campers are empty or are laborers who are gone all day and only come to sleep. I felt safe. It's close to Danbury and Walnut Cove. Cute stream with ducks who love to be fed and a fishing pond. Good cell signal. Price can't be beat in the area. Owners were so friendly. I hope they continue to renovate. This could be an amazing park. I would stay again if in the area.
This is a nice place to stay for a few days. It is not a family campground, most sites are long term living. The facilities are old, there is no play area for kids, no pet area, this in not a Good Sam or KOA. However, the sites they have for short term back up to a creek, there are ducks, the lots are flat, the water, electric and sewer hookups are placed well, and it is mostly grass. There are fireplaces and picnic tables. If you are self contained in a camper and don't need the facilities, it is a great place. The camp is very quiet. There are tent areas on the other side of the creek from the campers. The tent sites were filled for the weekend while we were there. There is a nice pond with a closed waterslide. They had a huge bonfire for all the guests on Saturday night with music and colored lights. The owners are new and they have plans to fix the place up. I hope they do because this is a jewel in the rough.
We came here for my husband's birthday. We love staying at this campground because it is so peaceful. Restrooms: The restrooms have showers.
This is our 2nd time being here anytime we are in the area working at the power plants we always recommend this place and stay here for ourselves I absolutely love the Scenery my kids love it There is a cute little Creek beside the campers and a nice pond and it's so close to the state park and playgrounds the owners are absolutely amazingWe absolutely love this place and definitely recommend it
Was there camping about 2 weeks ago, absolutely love it, the owners are awesome. The campground is under under some remodeling and I see nothing but great things in their future and I be back in June.
Sunset Park is a wonderful experience every time I come back! Thanks for making this a comfortable home away from home.
Cute little campground, plan on returning! Owners were super nice! Restrooms: Freshly painted, adequate, clean Dog-friendliness: Ours will come next time
The Fishing pond is nice and the little stream that flows through the park is clear. I caught a few bass in the pond. The management is very sweet and accommodating.
Their Signs are Very Deceiving, $20 Tent...You would Think it was for a Tent Sight....No...That's Per Tent...The Bathrooms were DIRTY and SMELLED HORRIBLE...There is Nothing For Kids to do there..And The Owners are Absolutely Rude...I Would Never Camp There or recommend camping there.
2nd year we've came here. Always welcome. Ppl are nice. Played in the paddle boat this time.. Had a wonderful time.
