The campers are somewhat basic and simple. But that's not a negative because it gives you the ability to modify and enhance in any way that you wish without being forced into a high price endeavor. That being said, campers can be bought from many companies. What puts this company at the top for me is the amount of dedication, work ethic, and absolutely incredible customer service. Everyone from the top level management to the floor workers are incredible. I spent some time in the area recently and they were professional, helpful, and absolutely interested in making sure that the customer experience was on point. That's the kind of company I want to work with, one who puts the customer's needs first. And I am very happy to support them, and own a fantastic camper that they made!
This post is going to be quite lengthy, but if you're an RV enthusiast, you might find my recent experience intriguing and impressive. I attended a rally this past weekend, sponsored by the manufacturer of my camper, Sunset Park RV, and hosted by En Route with Chuck and Cherie. The entire event was incredible and an unforgettable experience. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and departed on Sunday morning. Friday morning started with delicious donuts and an opportunity to meet fellow attendees. Cherie compiled a list of campers along with the issues they were facing. These ranged from odd wiring problems, cracked caulk, tongue coupler anomalies, spongy floors, and more. I added my refrigerator issues to the list, as the dealership had been unsuccessful in identifying any problems. Representatives from Sunset Park were on-site to address the issues on the list and check for other warranty-related concerns people might have. The Sunset Park team arrived and moved from one camper to another, resolving issues on the spot when they had the necessary parts and tools. If a particular part was unavailable in their truck, they would call someone at the factory to arrange for it to be brought to the campground. I discussed my refrigerator problems with two of the team members, who initially found themselves puzzled. The issue involved my fridge beeping persistently from around 2 am to 7 am. They decided to consult with Merle, who, to my surprise, is one of the three owners of Sunset RV. Merle later replaced the circuit boards both internal and external of my fridge. He completed the task and requested feedback the next morning, which turned out to be positive – the fix worked! Meanwhile, as the team worked on various campers, the rest of us took the opportunity to tour each other's campers. This offered a chance to explore different models and see the unique modifications owners had made. Some individuals had removed unnecessary features to add cabinets, others had installed special handles for easier access, and another had swapped out the dinette for a jackknife sofa. The couple with the spongy floor issue had their camper inspected by the Sunset team. The team identified that water had entered due to a door not being properly hung. They offered to transport the camper back to the factory on Saturday to fix both the door and the floors. They retrieved the camper Saturday morning and returned it to the campground with the necessary fixes by Saturday afternoon. Saturday included an enlightening factory tour led by Bob Fish, a member of their sales team and event coordinator. He guided us through campers in various stages of production, offering insights into their manufacturing process. Initially capable of producing around 5 campers a day, Sunset Park has now increased their capacity to around 15 per day for smaller models. Bob also shared that despite a limited media presence, Sunset Park keeps an eye on online forums and social media groups. They pay attention to trends, such as modifications and complaints, and incorporate these insights into their designs. For instance, they've recognized that larger rooftop AC units are excessive for smaller trailers and are now integrating smaller, more suitable AC units on the sides of the campers. Saturday concluded with a potluck, group photo, and raffle. So much food. Three large picnic tables for the main food and a medium table for dessert. The raffle prizes added an extra layer of excitement to the evening, featuring items like fire grills, a 270-degree awning tailored for the more compact campers, hammocks, and even an Electric bike. Among the fortunate winners, I had the pleasure of receiving a really neat tea towel. Overall, I was impressed with how involved the manufacturer was in this event. They were willing to listen and made most of the repairs at no charge to the camper owners if they deemed the issue something that wasn't caught during QA checks.
I purchased a Sunlite 16bh a couple weeks ago in Denver. Where to begin? R factor for insulation is low. Never heard of a 6 sided heat foil before, but I can tell you, this trailer is not suitable for winter conditions at all. The furnace works well enough to melt the plastic covering after the first use, but unfortunately is near the door and not the sleeping area. Also the thermostat is right above the furnace. Poor design there. Pride of workmanship is missing everywhere. From EVERY exterior light/speaker/seal being caked with excess silicon and not cleaned off to the interior having wood/metal shavings from installations to the storage lids not sanded and getting splinters just from lifting them. It doesn't seem like attention to detail is a priority for this manufacturer. Which brings me to my major complaint. When I picked this up and plugged it into my newer Jeep, it immediately blew a fuse. Dealer said it was probably a fuse that was close to going and borrowed one from another part of my fuse box. I found out in Arizona that wasn't the case. It blew again leaving me no lights in a snow storm. Was forced to sleep at a truck stop. After calling numerous rv dealers I found one that would do the warranty work. You see they mostly only do warranty work if you buy from them. He found a chafed wire in the rear running light. Did repair it, but cost me another day of travel and about 13 gallons of gas to take it to San Bernardino. 65 miles out of my way When I contacted Johnny at their warranty department asking him to make it right, he told me to read the fine print in their limited warranty. I did and couldn't find anything in there regarding their awful customer service and complete lack of empathy for my situation. A situation that started with poor craftsmanship at the factory. Moral here is don't have a problem with their brand new trailers unless you are close to the dealer you purchased from. Otherwise your limited warranty is useless. 1 extra star because I like the interior. Also the bed is horrible.
We were looking for a small camper to bridge the gap between our pop up and the 22 foot one we used for shorter trips, and the Sunray 149 fit the bill. Went to visit the factory and it was a welcoming experience. Bob was a great host and gave us a great tour of how they are put together. He has also been of great help with some modifications I wish to make. It is a good product and a good company.
I purchased an 18’ after searching and researching for nearly 2 years. This was a small company I had come across but knew nothing about. The price was great, and the quality of the unit I received was great. Over the last year I’ve had absolutely no complaints with my travel trailer. The support I received from my local dealership was great even though I haven’t really had any issues. The manufacturer is small, but they’ve got a great affordable product. Would definitely recommend giving them a look.
We bought a used Sunray 109 travelled and camp 14,000 km 8,400 miles in 33 days, hauled it with an antique cadillac from eastern Canada to California and back. Never had any problem,it didthe job. Thanks to Sunset RV.
We ordered the 2022 Sunset Park RV 16BH from our local dealer and when it arrived it surpassed all of our expectations. I had contacted Sunset Park RV with a special request and with our delivery I was so surprised that my request was fulfilled. Dan Ebey Regional Sales Manager Is a great person for the company. You will see in the pictures I asked to have all of the staff who worked on our new trailer if they could autograph a cabinet and it is just perfect…..
After a year of looking at studying different campers I ordered an 18RD back in 2/21. I picked it up from the dealer in early May '21. Yes, these campers are competitively priced, which is the reason I bought it, but there are reasons for it being inexpensive, you get what you pay for. After 3 months of light use we are generally pleased with our camper. It is lightweight. I like the rear entrance, the awnings and the interior. The exterior looks good despite if you look up close where the caulking was sloppily applied. There are a few issues. The major thing I have found out is that the insulation is fiberglass batt and there is not much of it. On a hot day with the A/C running the walls are warm to the touch. A number of things have broken. Small items none the less, but feel nothing should be broken after 3 months of use. I also noticed that the 4 speakers 2 inside, 2 outside did not appear to be playing out Stereo. Come to find out they were wired Monaurally. See pictures. A separate wire should be running to each speaker, 8 total, there are only 4 wires connected. Disappointed with this since it will be almost impossible to run additional wires to make them correct. There was no owners manual supplied with the camper despite that fact that a sticker on the outside of the camper says to see the Owner's Manual for more information I also feel that the dealer did not necessarily do his due diligence in getting this thing set up properly. It was dirty, sawdust everywhere. The gas tanks supplied were refurbished and only good for two more months. I almost drove away without my power tongue jack as it wasn't installed. One last thing, the closest dealer to me is 4 hours away. A long drive to get minor things fixed. So, 4 stars, wish I could have given 5.
We purchased our 16bh 3 years ago after researching for over a year. We almost bought an R-pod, but after renting one & pulling it, it was a no go. We pull with our 2007 Jeep Wrangler & it’s a breeze. Love the back door entrance, double sinks, full bath, tons of storage, easy to pull & all around ease to get it into any where!! Gets lots of attention. Three years & still love it!!
We purchased an 18 RD in March 2020. From order to delivery, was just 5 months. We went camping the same day we pick it up for a trial run. We camped roughly 2x per month and put over 3,000 miles. We have only made 1 physical modification by adding bump stops. We had the water heater stop working after 6 months. Our dealer, Gloucester RV in VA got us in and fixed without us missing a trip. We truly enjoy our camper ! We would recommend it and do recommend it to everyone. You can't bet the quality for the price. It has allowed us to be comfortable without breaking the bank. We adore the pine interior with our red/ white upholstery. The rear entry has given us some spectacular views! Thank you so much for making this camper. We are grateful that there is a dealer in my hometown. We are looking forward to keeping this camper for a long time.
