Sunset Seafood and Soulfood

I placed my order there 8/31/23 and I can honestly say I’m dissatisfied. I ordere the chitterlings plate, the chitterlings were extremely salty. I tried to put hot sauce over there it but the amount of salt made it worst. Also, it was more onions than chitterlings. The yams and cabbage was decent.Food: 1/5

Great service and food. If you want for fast but not fast food go here. I love our food getting a home cooked meal for my family on busy nights when I don't have the time to cook! People that work here are nice to. Kid-friendliness: They have crayons and paper for the kids to use while you wait

HO-LEEEEEE MOSES this quick trip to Charlotte is gonna spoil me. I can feel it already, and I've only been here 2 hours! I knew I was in the right place when I walked in the door and was greeted by a sweet man yelling, "talk to me," instead of can I take your order. He had me chuckling from the very start. But when he started sweetly yelling for his auntie to come up front and help him, he just melted my heart. I haven't had oxtails in a hot minute, so when I saw them on their menu, I jumped and let out a little squeel. They are served over rice and doused in gravy. You get your choice of 2 sides out of a long list of sides to choose from. Of course, I had to have the candied yams and collards because who doesn't choose those sides in a soul food restaurant????!!!! It was all delicious, but them oxtails had me acting like a dog and chewing on the bones to savor every bite. I was kind enough to save 1 for my husband to try since he's never had them before. But he better get back to the hotel quickly before I change my mind! If you ever make it down to Charlotte, NC, I absolutely recommend checking them out. If I were here for more than an overnight trip, I'd go back and try the fish and chicken too.

The food was very good and people were friendly. I only had one small complaint which might have been my own misunderstanding I asked for a croaker sandwich and got two huge pieces that were entree size and not filleted. I guess I was expecting a filleted smaller portion sandwich. Like I said maybe I didn't know because it was my first time there. But it was excellent though.

This place is okay coming from NY I expected a little more flavor. The oxtail were okay smothered in brown gravy I could have passed on them. Cornbread very dry. Decent macaroni and cheese. Okay potato salad. I personally would not return Food: 3/5

The wings were decent not fully cooked through a little red in the inside The yams were great and the Mac and cheese was decent could use a little more cheese the greens and collards were not seasoned enough didn't eat themFood: 3/5

I had chicken livers, pintos, greens and cornbread. The food was good but way to much salt. Please ease up on the salt. I may try it one more time but if it's still as salty my blood pressure want let me go back. My food was almost $15.00 for not a huge serving. To expensive. Dietary restrictions: Way to salty

In Charlotte and wanted some good home cooked food. Checked this spot out and the food was delicious. The amount of food for the price was on point. The desserts are fabulous. This is definitely a place to go to again when in Charlotte…Food: 5/5

Best I’ve had in awhile. Friendly place amazing food and worth every penny

So damn good! First of all, I was visiting family in Charlotte & when I landed I was starving. When I visit new cities I always try to find a local mom & pop style soul food place. Sunset came up on my search & it was in walking distance from my hotel so I headed there. Walked in & a pleasantly round light-skin black woman greeted me and I just knew she was someone's "Big Mama" not an insult btw. I felt right at home & looked over the menu. I ordered the fried pork chops w/mac & cheese and potato salad. I washed it all down w/ a half & half that was sweetened just right. I tore that food up! I kept saying mmmm after every bite. The staff made me feel right at home, like I was in my Grandma's kitchen. I can't wait to visit Charlotte again so I can eat here.
