We have moved, stay tuned for the opening. The Florida Surfing Museum is operated by the Palm Beach County Surfing History Project a 501(c)3 organization.

Description

Our museum has preserved thousands of photographs and memorabilia donated by local surfers. The museum is our special effort to share and inform residents and visitors about the surfing history of Palm Beach County. Visit us today and reflect on Palm Beach County Surf history and how surfing has impacted our community.



"The Florida Surf Museum is dedicated to preserving Florida’s rich surfing heritage through exhibits, research and preservation. Physical exhibits in the museum space at RonJon Surf Shop are rotated regularly to showcase the people, places and memorabilia that make Florida’s surfing history unique. FSM has a robust online presence which includes a webpage that presents in- depth articles, interviews and images that complement and enhance our exhibits. We also have an active Facebook page and YouTube channel that features contemporary and historical videos."

Nice little museum. Nothing but surf boards. Still it was informative. Right next door to Ron John's Surf Shop.
It was cool to check out and see the boards of some famous surfing celebrities. It is only one room, but decent sized. We did not read the reviews beforehand, so we were slightly underwhelmed. Still nicely displayed, and we'll kept. Might be worth poking your head in to this exhibit if you are already in the area. It is free.
It's closed for remodeling. We were told by employee that it's a small room with some pictures however they're painting the walls and updating everything and that there is no definite date as to when it will be open. I say call ahead. Five star because anything surfing is awesome!
This is not your typical museum but more like an exhibit however we knew this based on the reviews from here. I'm not a HUGE surfer kind of person but I do enjoy reading and learning about stuff. This is located inside the Ron Jon Rental shop, the staff was kind and asked right away if we needed help and pointed us to the direction of the museum. There are cool historic surf boards and pics of historical surfers and pictures. Again, I don't follow these people's careers but it was really nice to read how young these guys and girls were and how history was made in local cocoa Beach and seeing how small the surf boards were. Overall we had a great time reading through history, learning about them and letting the Florida thunderstorms pass. It was all good. There's probably more that can be done there to make it better but overall for it being free and by donation only, it was great.
Definitely not worth the 30 min drive I made, calling this a "museum" is a helluva stretch. Just a few random boards, framed photos but no context. Mostly an empty room. The staff in the store wasn't particularly friendly either.
This place is amazing and really worth your time if you appreciate the history of florida surfing. It is not a very big place but it holds some very good historical pieces. If you dont have any understanding of florida surfing history or appreciation for surfing in florida it will seem like an empty room to you. It is not what most people would think of as a museum but there is some interesting and meaningful things they have on display.
A must for surfers of all ages and even folks who’ve never tried surfing. Excellent historical exhibits with thought out film, artwork, and ephemera touches, make this a museum to visit again and again. Installations change pretty frequently too. Bravo!
NEW NAME: Florida Surf Museum formerly the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum The Museum is located at the Ron Jon Surf Shop watersports building. This space provides for public exhibits, lectures, and programs, and a headquarters for digital archiving and an oral history project. The museum actively engages the community in surfing culture through exhibits and educational events, as well as community outreach programs for all ages. It highlights surfing history and culture from Cocoa Beach, nationally and internationally, and from differing perspectives, including exhibits that feature the history and lore that defines Cocoa Beach as one of the premier surf towns in the world.
The Florida Surf Museum keeps our rich history alive, They contribute so much to our community. I love going to the museum and learning about our past and connecting with my fellow surfers.
Calling it a museum is stretching it. Its a room in the back of a shop. It does have some interesting artifacts, but definitely not a museum.
