Discharge nurse who states she is in charge of the waiting room is hostile, rude, and needs to take a break from nursing to hopefully regain some compassion and bedside manners appropriate for her career choice. On the other hand, the ER tech Kelly is an outstanding human being who offers patients the comfort and respect they deserve. Most patients aren't 'choosing' to go to the ER; however, the staff there is choosing to be there and should act accordingly or find another job if it is too stressful. Kelly demonstrates she can handle the pace and chaos associated with an ER and she goes out of her way to assist patients any way she can and treats them with understanding and respect - not as if they are bothering her or unworthy of her time which is how the gal at the discharge desks treats patients and their families. If you attempt to speak with the discharge nurse, she becomes more hostile and even threatened us with withholding the proper care. It should be noted that this was not a one time incident, we had same experience with same people twice in July and now again in September - that is the outstanding care by Kelly who is worthy of five stars and the unprofessional hostile care by the nurse at the discharge desk who is worthy of no stars.
Watch out for contract doctors at the pediatric ER. Had my son in for a possible concussion, he was checked in and then we just waited for a while until it was clear no danger signs showed. We paid ER bill and then got another bill from the doctor Dr. Jane Dyball that worked for CEP AMERICA CALIFORNA. There was no disclosure she wasn't working for Sutter. Luckily insurance covered some of that too, but it was another $324 out of pocket after insurance still.
Sutter ER don’t even deserve one star. They’re worth negative star. I’ll never put my step at this hospital. Took my 6 month old to the ER because he had a significant appetite loss from last three days. Wait time was not too long for pediatric which is a good thing. But medical team in the ER have no idea how to deal with the pediatric case. They didn’t even bother to start the IV fluid despite of knowing that my baby is dehydrated. My wife who’s a nurse has to tell them to give an IV. Also I’ve to instruct them to check his respiratory system because he was gagging a lot and had to tell them to use suction to clean them. The respiratory surgeon comforted me by saying as if he is doing me a favor by performing a respiratory check on my baby. No parent has to able to advocate for their babies to perform the basic tests. After 3 hours of staying in the ER, they said they’re going to admit us which was fine and we waited, waited, and waited. Finally after another three hours the ER doctor came back saying our insurance is for a different hospital and they’re are going to refer us to Merci San Juan. Well, does it took you a total of six hours to figure out my you guys don’t take my insurance? Unbelievable!!! Finally we got transferred and I felt blessed that we don’t have to deal with them anymore but guess what?? The next day very first thing in the morning, someone from Admin called us and says we owe them 1200$ which is our Out of Pocket. At first I was upset as hell because it’s not even 24 hours that we left and you’re calling us for the bill. Why can’t you send the bill to my in my address and I’ll pay in the deadline. Do you think I’m going to runaway not paying your $1200. You’re freaking multi-million or billion dollar company and you called the parents within 24 hours to pay $1200. OMFG, all I want to say is don’t play with lives of the patients and their parents. You’re not taking all those money when you die.
Brought my husband here to the emergency room, he was in really bad stomach pain for 2 days and had not eaten a single ounce of food and wasn’t able to drink water in those 2 days. We waited in the ER for 4 hours even after the tests were completed, no updates from the nurses on the floor, it was so bad that we had to leave, then we get a call back that my husband had to be admitted because his labs came back and some of his levels were too elevated. We come back right away and we were faced with Brian the RN in the check in area who was so disrespectful, even the nurse on the other desk treated another patient so disrespectfully that you could hear the pause in the room because she broke down in tears, mind you, we led this woman when we had gone home and we still met her here when we came back. No patient should be treated with disrespect, if Nicole the NP didn’t call us to come back, God knows i wouldn’t come back here, i was ready to go elsewhere. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this ER at all, people are better off caring for themselves at home.
Well, I'm waiting in the ER right now... I'm 66, high risk for covid and they have me sitting in the lobby/waiting area. I was in the back had an x-ray of my knee, found out I probably have a dislocated kneecap but waiting for more tests . It's been a nightmare asked if someone could wheel me to a bathroom because I can't put weight on my leg instead I got stuck out in the lobby. I asked to go before my x-ray but it was like they had to get the X-ray done now and I was placed in the lobby, there was no one to help me. Good thing I'm not totally incontinent. I can't totally blame the staff in the lobby for being completely rude because everyone is so frustrated having to wait for hours and hours and hours. Sutter needs to take care of this problem and give their staff a good working environment and patients a much better experience going to the ER.
Got kick out because I need a covit 19 testto help out my mom and all they did was take her blood and give her Tylenol and its also really dirty it's super bad experience it's suppose to be clean
Over 11 hrs waiting to be seen, rude, disrespectful nurse that medically neglects and discriminates against patients with mental health issues, makes seeking care for our loved ones heart breaking. to know that staff can and do choose to put someone at the back of the que. To watch the emergency room not only fill up but also empty 3 separate times during the 11 hrs wait, if frustrating and the interactions with staff enhance it, by their rude and dismissive behavior. Once we asked to speak to the charge nurse regarding our wait status, the staff we were speaking with told security he felt uncomfortable with us present to continue to do his job and had us removed leaving my loved one without proper support and advocate, luckily the security guard did allow for someone else to stay and with them and advocate for them. Horrible how they abuse and treat the mentally ill with emergency medical needs
Horrible emergency room experience. Clueless, incredibly rude staff. I brought my husband in with a head injury. We were told they would do some scans and get some IV fluid in him. We have been here for four hours—he had the CT scan an hour ago. No IV fluid or even an update on what’s going on. We are guessing they don’t think his head injury was that serious….
I hope Sutter is aware that falsifying medical records is a felony. I "saw" Dr. on July 30th and a good portion of the stats he entered into my chart were made up. He never checked my neck, swallowing, never checked my breathing, or my lymph nodes. All of those things were stated as normal or in good health. That "doctor" walked in and before he read my chart or examined me. He was immediately saying this is for emergencies only and that I shouldn't be there, again without examining me. If there is an option to file a lawsuit or complaint with the medical board I am taking it. Worst emergency room experience ever and that doctor is dangerously dismissive and dishonest.
I was here on Sat 10-15-22 Afternoon Through Sunday Morning 10-16-22. I had gone to Elk Grove Urgent first, that made things worse, I went back to urgent care, got a dr who advised I go here for my left earache, bacteria, red hot puffed up ear ear infection. Checked in got my ID wrist band, the girl was nice,. waited a while to be called for blood draw/labs that went ok, person was nice, went back to waiting room which was not crowded for sat afternoon, having a book helps while waiting to be called back this time I got a room, I lucked out and won the lottery with Dr A. Lu, she understood autism and was a superhero supercool, I had 2 hours of IV treatment that went well, the nurse that did that was nice too, Marcos the nurse was friendly cool and nice guy, I dont like staying the night, that was great news, when I was told I didnt have to stay over night. Dr Lu performed ear surgery while I was awake, explained what was gonna happen, went slow took her time, not rushed, she would let me know before numbing, before cutting, before sewing and stitching apply the medicine covering on leftear to protect and hold together, I'll be honest the procedure was uncomfy, hurt, but I had DR. A LU, she was awesome, I trusted her and felt safe under her care the moment she walked in the room. she is really special and I hope she is my dr again she went above and beyond. When I come here I am treated well, taken care of, happy when I get the ok to leave and go home, pick up dr prescribed meds at 24 hr walgreens take those and then I will feel better.
