I need to replace my mom's gas fireplace rocks and logs. I was happily, immediately greeted and offered help by a nice gentleman. Until I stated that I only wanted to replace stones. His smile vanished and I was told the only had clear glass and brown rocks and he couldn't help me. I didn't even get a chance to ask for logs. He gave me the impression that if I didn't want a whole fireplace, then I obviously came to the wrong store. I was pretty bummed and I'm reviewing from their parking lot.
The staff at Sutter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn’t imagine buying my fireplace inserts anywhere else! I would definitely recommend Sutter to all my friends and family!
Sutter did an electric fireplace insert in my condo and I really can’t speak highly enough of them. The total bill was less than I expected, and they managed to install a week ahead of schedule.
We removed 2 wood burning inserts and replaced them with gas inserts 2 years ago. We looked at several sources, including installers who only had an online presence, but every friend we consulted strongly suggested Sutter. We valued the showroom at Sutter which allowed us to see multiple options side by side as compared to the online sales. The staff always looked up our file and connected us with the same person for each visit and call as we worked through our options. They were courteous and professional through 10+ interactions before we purchased. Sutter told us we could heat effectively with these inserts while the gas company said they would be decorative only. For the past 2 years we have heated with the inserts solely and by experimenting with the location of the mobile thermostatic controls are very pleased. The reason I am writing this review is to mention service. We recently had a minor issue with one of our units and called Sutter. They quickly scheduled a service appointment with Sean [?spelling?] who came out, troubleshot the issue, and resolved it. When I had questions about the problem, he came back, double checked the issue and reassured me without charge. Just for fun, I looked up the other sources we considered and 3 of them are no longer in business. Sutter only services what they install and their ongoing presence is worth a lot.
We had gas inserts placed by SH&H and were very pleased with their sales, estimators, and install teams. I found everyone to be respectful and knowledgeable about their products. We ran into an issue with an odor after the installation, and they had two team members out very quickly to examine and diagnose what was happening. Their solution worked and the assessment was spot-on. Also, during install they had to custom fabricate a part, and the result was excellent. I have no reservations recommending them based on our experiences with about 6 different team members.
We had a great experience with Sutter Home & Hearth! Hailey helped us select a gas insert brand and design that would go well with our 1960s home. Mike came out to do the measurements and estimate and was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful in providing the information we needed to select the correct size insert. They were able to fit us into their installation schedule 3 weeks earlier than originally promised and the installers were efficient, friendly and professional. We couldn't be happier with our new insert! Thanks Sutter Home & Hearth!
Shout out to Megan who answers the phone at Sutter Home & Hearth. She is exceptionally knowledgeable and very helpful. I called with a question about power outage function, expecting to be told a technician would call me back. Instead, Megan very clearly explained what to do. She was just as patient when I called back for more guidance! I highly recommend this business for their products and customer service.
I do not recommend using Sutter Home and Hearth for installation and service. They carry the best of products but their customer service is very poor. It was difficult extracting info from the salesperson, I suspect they were not well trained. Up to an installation I believe was faulty, allowing for water to run down the vent tubes and corroding the power/electronic system. I would not use their recommended contractors as they have adamantly denied Sutter could be at fault. This assessment by the way was completed from the ground without looking at the installation. Follow-up by the Sutter Home and Hearth rep, Sean, was an unpleasant experience. He is charming, forward, abrupt and not a good listener or willing to consider the company may be partially at fault. Shop the store, find a good product but I recommend going to another outlet to buy, have installed and complete an annual service.
We bought a fireplace 18 months ago and love it. Jim assisted us during this process. He is outstanding.. quite knowledgeable about the specifics of each fireplace, pros n cons, as well as hook up as we needed a gas line first. Recently the pilot light wouldn't work due to dead batteries and he walked us through how to change the batteries over the phone as this can be a bit tricky. Easy fix. Highly recommend Sutter Home. Professional reliable service --can't beat it.
We just had a new gas fireplace insert installed in my home by Sutter Home and Hearth and the whole experience was delightful from start to finish. We went in on a Sunday morning to the Ballard location looking for some information and Jim was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly and we didn’t feel like we were being pressured or ‘sold’. We decided to go ahead with the purchase and in the process came in contact with multiple people from Sutter Home as well as those recommended by Sutter Home e.g. Annual Chimney Sweep and ALL were personable, knowledgeable, patient and respectful. This was so important since my 89 year-old mother was at home for the in-person appointments. They were on time for everything! The fireplace not only looks great, it is so easy to turn on and off just a click! and has been worth every penny to not have to deal with pressed logs, clean-up, etc. I told a co-worker about our experience and he is working with Sutter Home right now and has come to the same conclusion we did.
