Newport Beach Location Closed Effective Immediately

Loyalty from customers like you has meant so much to us at Sweet Lady Jane. It is with much respect that we inform you we are in the process of re-evaluating our retail store location in the Newport area. Effective immediately, we will be closing our doors at 3732 East Coast Highway in Corona Del Mar.

We will continue to serve the Greater Los Angeles area, as we have for nearly 30 years, through our three other locations in West Hollywood, Santa Monica and Encino.

We want to thank the entire community in the Newport area for your support, and we look forward to sharing exciting updates with everyone in the future.

The cakes and sweets are definitely very good and worth the trip. I went late one evening for a slice with coffee for my 39 wedding anniversary. The coffee was barely hot and definitely had not been made in the last two hours. It is by far the worst coffee o have had at an establishment in the last 5 years. Airports keep coffee hot and relatively great for about two hours max. This was not made in the last two hours. Particular about presentation? Have better coffee for your bake goods .
So disappointed in customer service ...I ordered the Triple Berry Cake for my best friends birthday. Her birthday was on Valentine's Day. The cake decorator called me to verify where to add the extra hearts on the cake. It was going to be beautiful, perfect! Our birthday celebration was to be Friday, February 17. We were all anticipating this scrumptious cake to top off the evening. I got off work and it was the worst rain storm Orange County had seen in many years. My car battery was dead! Roadside assistance would not get to me for an hour! I had to wave down a reluctant coworker to help me in the wind and rain and cold! I was finally on my way to Sweet Lady Jane's and called to say that my iPhone estimated that I would be there at 6:05. I was told that the registers close at 6:00. I offered to pay over the phone but was declined. I was told I could pick up the cake the following day. I explained it was for a birthday party tonight. I was told they could not guarantee that they would be there after 6:00 and furthermore they must close at 6:00. I arrived at 6:05. I was abruptly stopped at the door with a sudden hand gesture. I was told by the sales girl that there was nothing she could do. I explained it was a birthday cake with my girlfriend's name on it! The sales girl did not budge. I searched my brain to find the words to speak and reach this person's sensibility to simply give me my cake but she said she would get a demerit for doing so! I was at a loss for words and told her that this seems a little crazy! She replied with a shrug of her shoulders and went about closing the shop. So I was standing there soaking wet, defeated, late to my girlfriend's birthday party with no cake ....bad customer service. Is this really how a business should be run? What do you say Sweet Lady Jane? I spoke to the manager Mike and he apologized for the lack of service I received and offered a me a gift certificate for a small cake or lunch but there were 8 of us that need an apology. Have you ever had to have a birthday dinner without a cake? The whole evening ended on a flat note. How can you sing Happy Birthday without the cake? This group of friends got together to make everything from appetizers to a main course, sides and drinks but there was no cake....the grand finale was missing! I'm very embarrassed that I was responsible for the cake and did not deliver. How can I ask everyone for a do-over birthday dinner? Should everyone reschedule themselves to make another dinner and share a small cake? I think Sweet Lady Jane can do better that that. Please rectify this terrible experience... my phone number is probably still on the cake order which has my best friends name on it! Happy Birthday Sally!
My wife and I stop here once or twice a week. Red Velvet cake is my favorite; mixed berry pie is hers. We get one or two other random pieces...chocolate old fashioned...English trifle, carrot cake...short bread cookies, chocolate cookies, blackout espresso. The flourless chocolate cake is great.
Triple Berry and the Coconut cake are soooo good!! I have been ordering my cakes from Sweet Lady Jane for over 20 years at her store on Melrose in LA. I am so happy she is now in the OC. Welcome to Orange County. #customer4life

The flourless chocolate cake was ridiculously dry. I never waste dessert but I just couldn't finish it. It was a waste of money and chocolate.
Pretty bakery.. Stale date bars and hard as a rock brownies.. Lemon bars and cheese puffs were good..
The food is always fantastic and the people that work there are so kind! I always look forward to going there for breakfast!
The patio is delightful, the service is attentive, and the currant scones are incredible.
