Today was my first visit to Sweet Pepper and all I can say is DELISH! I ordered a rice bowl with pulled pork, plantains, black beans, fresh avo, and avocado sauce - generous portions, presentation was nice for a “to go” order and honestly the price was well worth it $10ish. I am all about supporting neighborhood businesses and am very happy Sweet Pepper decided to make its home here! We need more places like this - let’s keep up the support!

We decided to check out Sweet Pepper for lunch today as I saw several neighbors commenting about it on social media. With my husband being Venezuelan we had to go try it right away!  It did not disappoint. Reminiscent of Chipotle, you order at the counter and build your own arepa, bowl, salad, or plátano. I had a shredded chicken bowl, hubby had a pulled pork arepa and we shared some yuca chips. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend checking them out!

This is THE place to get authentic, delicious, and PACKED arepas.Arepas are the talk of town in Chicago right now- Venezuelans know how to do it right. Plan to skip breakfast if you're planning to eat lunch here cause they stuff these to the max!

This place is great! They have tons of delicious vegetarian and vegan options - definitely get the plantains on your arepa. The owners are incredibly nice, too! I dropped my avocado and they brought me a new one, which was so sweet. Would definitely recommend!

YUM! This place is super tasty. They made my plantain to order, so it was hot and fresh, which I really appreciated. Prices and proportions comparable to Chipotle as others mentioned, but way more interesting and fresh. Nice people and great service. The 20 min I was here at the end of the night there were people in and out the whole time so it seems like the neighborhood is already hooked in the first week! Will definitely be back asap to try other things on the menu.

Agreed with the other reviewers on here. Amazing Arepas! Definitely worth giving them a try. They are a bit messy, but very tasty. I had the shredded chicken with lime vegetables. I highly recommend the Caribbean cheese and Garlic sauce on anything you get there.  All of the food was fresh and delicious. I also had the Yuca chips, which were great with the sauces for dipping.

Food was amazingly delicious! Where to start?! Their arepas are so soft and fluffy! The Pabellon was so flavorful and there was so much of it stuffed in the arepas. Also, the best plantains I’ve had in the city! And, the sauces...yummy! Lots of gluten free options too. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop in and support this husband and wife owned small business!

I love the simple, fresh, and incredibly tasty food here. It is fairly quick and the owners are the kindest people. I've been multiple times and every time it's just as amazing as the first time. Definitely recommend! Great little neighborhood restaurant!

This place is amazing! Stop reading this review and go eat there. I ordered the barbacoa arepas with Caribbean cheese, black beans, and sweet pepper sauce. It did not disappoint! Excited to return and try something new especially the plantain  and will definitely add this place to my neighborhood favorites.  Not to mention, the owners are super friendly and courteous. I'm so pleased that a place like this exists.
