I love using Google Reviews to search for new places to eat! The recent reviews & reviews w/pics are especially helpful! I visited Sweet Fingers before a concert at Oakland Arena. First of all, the restaurant's distance from the arena is less than 10 minutes, so that was convenient. Second, our server's vibe was on point! She was welcoming, pleasant and very attentive. I didn't catch her name, but I'd go back just for her! We ordered Mama Mia wings, Jerk Chicken, and Oxtails to share. I've never had jerk chicken or Oxtails so I cannot compare. I loved the sauce/gravy's seasoning in all the dishes. Everything was very flavorful and I especially enjoyed the hint of heat the jerk chicken came spiced with. It was especially yummy mixed with the rice & beans. The Mama Mia wings were equally delicious abounding with flavor not spicy All food was served hot which I appreciate! I want to go back & try so many things! Fried chicken will be next for me!
The Bar service is always on point! The front counter is iffy sometimes, but the oxtail dinner plate, cabbage, and plantains are so good you ignore the iffy service at the register... The cooks are amazing. They will come out and greet you, which is a nice experience to have here in Oakland...
when i say, this is a must try…you better try it!!! my brother frequents this restrautajt and i am so glad he brought me. i ordered the brown stew chicken….and it was delicious. the stew was full of flavor and the chicken literally was falling right off of the bone. the perfect amount of spiciness but i did at times add some of the habanero sauce and oh man was it amazing! the rice and peas was cooked perfect and the flavor was insane. my best friend got the oxtail, which was also amazing. the serving was large, the meat was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was on point. spiciness level was just right. the plantains were fresh and delicious. we all tried the jerk chicken and yum!!! again, cooked perfectly and juicy. the jerk seasoning was not too overpowering but also not lacking. i was basically drinking the jerk sauce it was so good, and i don’t even like jerk flavor! beef patties were to die for. not greasy, light/full of flavor. meat was great quality. 10/10 recommend. will definitely be visiting when i’m in oakland and i highly encouraged anyone who enjoys Jamaican food to do the same!
This is mine and my Best Friend's second time eating here and both times their food was delicious!! This time, we ordered a hot & fresh beef patty, the fried chicken dinner with rice & red beans, fried plantains, and the oxtail dinner as well. Everything tasted authentic, the amount of seasoning was on point, & their customer service was perfect!! We left happy, eager to return, appreciative and completely fulfilled. We highly recommend trying everything!!
So happy to have come in to the new location of this very special gem of a restaurant. Chef Clive, as a always it was a pleasure to see you. I highly recommend everything on the menu. Authentic Jamaican food cooked right, and with love and intelligence.
Sweet Fingers was a spot that I would frequent when they were at the San Leandro location. Compared to that location, they have a more open floor plan and the place looks overall brighter inside. It was not very busy when I arrived. I got to choose any table I liked. Our waitress did not bring nor offer us any water when I sat down. I ordered the Island shrimp which had amazing flavor to it, and the beef patty to start. The beef patty was pretty good. I also ordered the brown stew chicken which was good, but not as good as the brown stew at other Jamaican establishments. I had the lemonade. The meal came to about 60ish dollars with tip. My big beef with this place is they are serving all of their dishes in to-go containers and giving paper plates for those wishing to dine-in. Probably something that was established since the pandemic. Either way, it takes away from the restaurant experience. They probably aren't concerned because they are located in the hood low key I'm black, I can say that. I'll probably eat here again just to try the other menu items and see if they are better than the brown stew chicken.
I was very disappointed in the service especially because I paid so much money for my food and traveled far to eat here From Fairfield. I tried this place out on 7/30, a Sunday at around 5 pm. When I arrived they were not busy. I ordered my food from the QR Code on the table and paid online. I went to the front counter to ensure they got my order. I paid $95 for everything I ordered. I ate at the restaurant with friends. I was there about 2.5 hrs. and every aspect of my order was incorrect. I had to go to the counter twice to get the correct items. And the lady behind the counter came over to my table and swapped out items from my order because she thought she gave me the wrong item but in fact I was supposed to have both items. There was 1 item that I didn't check and unfortunately that item ended up being incorrect as well but i was already at home in Fairfield. The food was decent, but overpriced for the portions you get and I couldn't really enjoy the experience for having to constantly correct my order.
We walked in, stood in the line which was empty for about 5-10 minutes, while the cashier was packing orders. She seem pretty backed up and busy so we continued to wait patiently. We were expecting her to say something along the lines of “I’ll be with you in a moment,” so we at least know she acknowledged our presence rather than feeling ignored. Once it was our time to order she just looked at me, which I guess was my cue to approach her still not speaking. Once we were finished, she walked off before we could even ask for a receipt and practically whispered our estimated wait time. Overall, our service experience wasn’t friendly or any greetings of some sort.
0 star everything. Food wasn’t flavorful at all for the high price plus staff was rude and slow. I wish I didn’t leave the highest tip % before my food arrived because it definitely would have been $0! It should’ve been a red flag to me when the restaurant was empty the whole time my party was there, lol! Response: Was not underage, they just don’t accept other tenders of identification and then went to gossip to the other workers that we were “underage” hence why I said they were rude. I went to order the nasty watermelon drink and walked up to them talking about it before I had to speak up for service and wait a while for them to even complete my transaction because the power went out. Such an inconvenience to be honest.
YESSS Miss B and Chef Will are thee best. Miss B is amazing. She made our time here very pleasant. Chef Will put her foot in this food. I give them 5 Food: 5/5
