Love camping here! Try and come at least 1-3 times during the season. Really like that it is away from the main roads. Great area and place for the kids to play and ride their bikes. The creek is great to cool off!! Love love love that there are so many trees and the camping sites aren't so close together like other campsites. I'd give 5 stars but the bathrooms are sometimes not cleaned. Equally, other campers that are using the washrooms should be considerate of others and clean up after themselves and their children !!!
Beautiful location right by a creek. Lots of kids playing. Quiet at night. Family friendly. There were many larger groups. I guess they have had problems before because now they require a $100 deposit. There are few restroom facilities and they are closer to the office but seemed to be cleaned regularly. There was a port-a-potty that was closer to our campsite but I never used it. It's very out of the way. Our van had no trouble getting in on the gravel road.
Just camped at this campground over the August long weekend 2016. The site we had was a great size and backed onto the river - it was very nice! The staff was very friendly when they came around in the evenings to let us know it was quiet time. The only BIG complaint everyone has was the bathrooms.. The staff was not able to keep up with the mess in both the men's and women's bathrooms. You had to pay for warm water for the showers... there was NO mirrors in the washrooms.. and the bathroom toilets were constantly plugged and extremely dirty. Also, there is a giant spider nest right outside the bathrooms under the light... if you are camping here don't look up when you walk in the bathrooms!
Bathrooms were always very dirty/out of order or a door completely missing. Other campers did not keep to the borders if their own sites and were parked on our site and walking through our site, campsite security did not seem to care. Tons and tons of crows constantly around, lack of garbage cans, Creek was beautiful, close commute to cultus, good site for kids.
Absolutely disgusting. will never go here again, wish I could rate 0 stars. we booked here for a week in summer 2017. day 1: go to washroom with the kids, and it is overflowing with pee all over the floor, ankle deep. Not cleaned till 2.5 days later. and all they did was plunge the drain, girls showers broken, so had to use men's. and they were filthy. bathrooms had pee overflowing in toilets at least every day. Staff is ridiculous, check in they were more concerned about their nail filing. Every time I went to the store someone was either filing there nails, or telling a story to their buddy, or no one was even there. We left 2 days early. Garbage constantly all around the site. not sure what they were cleaning everyday because it was over flowing all the time. But the bathrooms were just horrendous. So gross. This year I made sure to book in advance to a much better site at cultus lake.
We found garbage laying all over the campground, the bathrooms are disgusting and looks like they've never been cleaned or maintained. Found large spiders and webs all over the tops of the shower and bathroom doors as well as above the sinks. We had to wear sandals inside the shower due to mold and whatever else was on the shower floor. The entrance to the campground as well as in the campground itself is not big or tall trailer friendly. We had to stop multiple times and climb onto the roof to cut branches down so the roof, vents, A/C or antenna wouldn't be damaged. Lastly there is no dumping station on site, we had to drive into chilliwack to dump. There was also no enforcement to the rules they had in place, the campsite across from us and a few down felt like they needed to smoke marijuana while there was kids around. We would never stay at Sweltzer again.
We were there three days. Our small group was given nice spots by the creek - I believe that's because we requested electrical hook-ups and water faucets note to RV owners the faucets are publicly shared so can't hook up. LIKED: in general the campground is nice and quiet except for my see my "disliked". The creek and vegetation was a plus. DISLIKED: top of my list is the lack of washrooms - only two toilet stalls and two shower stalls same for women for the entire site, and they often run out of toilet papers! We had to wait either very late in the night or very early in the morning to avoid the long queues. As expected most campers are not house-trained and since the toilets are not maintained as often as they should be it's a mess by the time we get our turn if we wait late into the night. This campground is very popular with groups - most are ok except one group brought with them a videoke system and were crooning until about 11 pm. I'm not sure if it was only me and my wife but seems like we smell dog poos all the time yes - there are pets everywhere and I guess those little mounds of sand were covered-up poos. Not sure if we want to camp there again.
Great place for camping, great for tent or trailer campers alike. Has a restroom for male and female, but only one though. Big campsites, some are beside a nice refreshing creek. Has a small playground for young kids, and a volleyball court. There are also group sites available for large groups. Cheaper than most campgrounds. Bonus: after a short walk you can get to the side of a river where you can take a dip or soak during a blistering summer day.
Stayed here because of the location to cultus lake adventure park. It was overall a good experience but over the 3 days we stayed there not once did we see the washrooms being cleaned. So many spiders and webs. The floors were disgusting covered in mud. Trash on the floor. For the amount you pay you'd think they would take better care of the place.
If we could rate a 0 we would. We called to book a site with electricity. Our friends already had a site booked. The lady told us we could share their site and both our trailers would fit. We get there and the site is just enough to fit one vehicle and trailer. We we given a site at the back with no power but beside the portipotties and garbage bins ! Not bad for location, private, but it stank and it was completely sheltered from the sun. Our solar panels wouldn't charge. We didn't bring our generator as we were assured our trailers would fit in the one site . 5:25 am on Tuesday workers started working in the gravel pits! Diggers, excavation, loud bangs and crashes since 525am and all day! Worst place !
