I about cried when I drove through the campgrounds my family built in the 70's. Haven't been here since the 80's. Not sure when my parents sold it. Likened it to driving through 'ghost resorts of the Catskills'.
To be honest, the 4 stars I am giving are because of the memories of the place with my grandparents late 70's, early 80's. And those memories are the best of my childhood. Ben and his family who ran the placehad a crush on his daughter Brook, lol. But it was a place where families gathered, we had field days, archery contests, fishing tournaments. Everyone knew everyone, and everyone loved everyone. Much better times.
I would love to hear what happened to this place. Can’t imagine why at least the lakefront property isn’t worth a pretty penny to someone. My dad and I practically lived there on weekends in the summer time and during hunting season back in the 80s and early 90s. Was sad to see it closed down. Tried to camp there in the summer and found the “ghost town”.
I camped there 1 night in 2009. Not very good for tent camping. Dirty sites when far from water. Otherwise it works if you are on a fishing trip and need to get by in a safe although not very clean camping site.
Unfortunately Swinging Bridge Campground is closed. It was a great place, and brought much joy to many people.
The price is too high if you want to go camping do not recommend
No longer a commercial campground. Very dirty and littered with junk and stuff. Don't bother calling.
