About

Tahoe's hottest fishing spot!

Description

Tahoe Trout Farm is the place to go if you want to hook fish without any fuss. We keep two ponds stocked with healthy rainbow trout that love to bite. All the tools of the trade are provided at no cost - you just pay for the fish you catch! You are also welcome to use your own gear if you like. Our trout are good to eat and we can clean them and pack them on ice for the trip to your kitchen or grill. Besides the fishing, we have an ideal setting on the edge of a large meadow with a gorgeous view of the mountains, all in the heart of South Lake Tahoe!

Such a special place. All of the employees are kind and helpful, even if you have no clue what you are doing. My husband caught his first fish ever here. The experience did not disappoint. Upon arrival they talked us though the process and safety protocols. An employee came by as we were fishing and helped us to bait our hooks more efficiently. Upon catching our fish, we brought them up to the entrance and they helped us to take the hooks out. We paid $1 per fish to have them cleaned and gutted. They even shared tips on how to cook it. We each caught a fish, 2 total. It is was cheaper than a dinner out, and was delicious.
I never knew this trout farm was so easy to get to. This is a great place to try fishing as a family. No need to rent a boat, buy a fishing license, bait, or gear. Fees are modest, especially for what you get. Catching a fish is almost guaranteed. Crew is friendly and helpful. They'll even clean and pack your fish on ice. Views of trees and mountains are lovely. High likelihood we'll be back with family and friends.
I took my 6 year old here and he had the best time, as did I! The owners are so generous with their time. One of them showed my son how to clean a fish and he was very delighted. We will be back next year!
We were there for about 1 hour, not very crowded. It was really fun for my son, who is trying to learn how to fish. Great customer service. Large fish.
I took my young grandkids there on a recent trip to South Lake Tahoe. It was supposed to be the highlight of their weekend trip, but turned out it was the highlight of my trip too! The place was not big; mainly for families with young kids. You can clearly see the fishes in the ponds, but they were not easy to catch! Everything you need was supplied! But the most amazing experience came from James; he was patient, kind, and never refused help when asked. Since our group was novice in fishing, James helped with stuck spools, unhooking the fish, extra worms …etc. Then there’s grandfather Jim guarding the ice, watching over his ponds with a smile and contentment. All other visitors were friendly and cheered whenever a fish was caught. It’s a happy and peaceful environment. We caught 5 trouts in 2 hours. Indeed this was the highlight of our wonderful weekend!
This was our grandchildren's first fishing experience. The staff noticed that our grandson was having trouble, and brought him a casting pole and set him up. He had a beautiful fish in no time. They even showed the kids how to clean the fish and let them help. Beautiful scenery and lots of fun!
This was a very nice place place with wonderful people. You pay based on the size of your catches, they provide poles, bait, towels, and nets. For a small fee they will clean fish for you. My sons first time fishing and this was a great experience. I highly recommend anytime you visit.
Not as great as I was expecting from all the reviews. You aren’t allowed to use a stringer, you have to pay $10 for a bucket. The rods they give you don’t have reels and you cannot cast far with them. And if you bring your own rods, they want to inspect them. They also don’t want you to set the hook. You have to instead, hope that the fish won’t let go of your hook. The fish are nice and big though.
This was our family first experience fishing. It was fun and super easy. Fishing bait, poles and nets were all provided for a small fee. The pond was well stocked. We caught 3 fish in about 2 hours. The largest fish was a 21 in trout which was fileted for us for a fee. The fish were packed in ice for us. Be aware that the large fish get quite expensive but it was plenty of fish for dinner for a family of 4.
Good clean fun! Kids love it!! Well kept grounds and nice staff that will even set up your poll gor you. Con = price of the catch... a shocker.
