Great guys run this place. I highly suggest this. I'm a Texas boy that came to Louisville and I really enjoyed fishing here. Huge Huge Huge catfish!!! $20 for unlimited, $25 for trophy and you will get a trophy.
This is one of the best pay lakes in Louisville for eater sized fish but I haven't been able to try out the trophy lake. The property is very well groomed, there are no signs of moss or annoying frogs The staff are great and honest about what's catching fish, they have never tried to sell me anything like some paylakes just tying to pad their pockets. As far as the people that fish Tapps pay lake are great too. That's my 2 cents booked you enjoy. Ps: the small end of the lake seems to produce 4x more fish than anywhere else especially in the corners. Goodluck y'all!
Tapps Pay Lake is so clean. They take great care of the area. I see them load in the fish. Now if I don't catch them that's on me. The owners are personable and I feel extremely safe and relaxed there.
My second time here and my 2 sons and my husband and grandson between us we caught 27 catfish. We just got home at 2 am and we put all the fish back. Its 20 dollars a piece to fish.
I guess it's not the pay lakes fault, but of all the times I fished there last year, I came up empty everytime. So far this year, I've been there 4 times. One time, I caught 2 fish. Came up empty all other times. I am 64 years old and have actually fished before. :- I've used Strawberry chicken, red worms, night crawlers, catalpa worms, Chicken breast with Anise extract, Shrimp, doughball with ground chicken burger with Sourmash, bluegill fillets, hamburger doughball, hog wild, chicken livers, hotdogs, and other stuff for bait that has been successful at other pay lakes in the past. I've filled up coolers at other pay lakes, but have only caught 2 fish out of all the times I've been and all the different baits I've used. I understand that fishing is fishing. That's why they don't call it "catching". Sometimes you strike out and sometimes you don't. I've seen guys catching fish, while I just sit there and watch my bobber continue to sit there. For some reason, I strike out every time I've tried this place. Also, the last time I was there, I only caught 2 after about 8 hours of fishing and gave them away. When I was checking out, this guy looked all over inside my truck and out, and that was after I told him I gave my fish way. He kept hunting for something. He was a nice guy, but I felt like I was being treated as though I was sneaking something out of there. It looked like he didn't believe me and I just a crook. Oh, I did pay for unlimited catch, but he still treated me like I was trying to get away with something. Maybe he thought I was up to something because of all the times I come out there and go home empty handed. Maybe he thought I was smuggling something out of there. Like I said, this might be a good lake, but it's not been good at all when I've been there. Just hot, sweaty and boring. Coincidence? I might try it one more time. If I come up empty again, I won't go back. I'm tired of looking at my cork and my cork just sitting there looking back at me.
Owner lied about species of fish that are in the pond, told us “there is a little bit of everything” yet there was only catfish in both ponds, Spent 2 hours fishing and didn’t catch a single thing along with my friend and Highly overpriced... Worst fishing experience ever... 1 Star never coming back
Supposed to be on fire with the big fish lake no amateur here but maybe just not a good day to fish. Is quite a bit pricey too if i may say so , possibly the most expensive paylake i Hve ever been to
Pretty good pay lake, the people are really nice and we caught about 20 cats here. They also keep it clean and well maintained.
Very nice clean lake family owned. Great for a family picnic while you fish. Also has a party lake you can rent.
Clean place to fish. Friendly owners and employees. About like any other pay lake, one day you may catch 40 and the next only a few. But I've always caught fish.
